I was in the Smith and Wesson Store last week buying a holster and of course had to ask the Sales Assoc. when the 380 would be out.

I was told sometime around December but living in Mass I don't know if that was due to the compliant testing that the gun has to

undergo before it can be sold in Mass, but he did say that it is in production now, Don't really know if this helps with your question

but it could still be a while before we see it i would believe.

I just got done talking to a LGS and he said that he had one, set it out and within 30 minutes it was gone. He was selling them for $465 each. He also said that another customer saw it at another gun store and it too was sold within the same day. I wish I could find one here locally to hold and inspect.

If anybody gets one of these in the D.C. Metro area, I'd love to try it out. I doubt ranges will have it for rent for quite some time, if ever considering the laser.

The Bodyguard 380 has just begun reaching retail distribution. Bud's showed them in stock yesterday, but are now listed as out of stock already. This will be a popular choice. I've been pretty happy with my LCP, but am planning to get the Bodyguard 380 to evaluate.

P.S.

Just found some in stock at Top Notch Tactical

I live in the Tampa Bay area and my local gun store carries a huge selection of firearms. They started stocking the Bodyguard a couple of weeks ago selling for $449 and they are selling like hot cakes. I was able to look at one of two that they had left and it is the next big thing. I am sure it will outsell the LCP in no time.

For those in Northern Virginia, these are now available at Sharpshooters in Lorton, about $575 for non-members and $520 for members. They generally overcharge by quite a bit though so I wouldn't expect it to be standard.

It felt very very comfortable to hold. The pictures make it look much more substantial than the LCP in its overall frame design but it really was tight and compact. The sights are very very nice for such a small gun, they blow the competition out of the water. I'm not in the market for a CC piece right now but I'd love to hear shooting impressions.

I saw for sale yesterday at the Miami,FL gun show, Straight Shooters had them for $489. Good fit in my hand for a pocket gun, slide racked really easy, slide release also easy. I plan to purchase one after first runs are sold.

I handled one yesterday at a grand opening of a new store. Nice sights for a pocket pistol, rough trigger pull, one clip, price was $445. That seems high, but when you add the cost of laser to a LCP or a P3AT it comes to about the same amount.

I got to handle one at a gun show in Michigan. I was not at all impressed with the trigger, it was not any better than my P3AT (which I don't care for). The Bodyguard has an external safety, seems like they could have made the trigger a little crisper.

I am seriously considering trading the Kel Tec for a Sig P238, that gun feels so nice for a pocket pistol. Kinda like a mini 1911.
