Ran across this article in Field and Stream about some states picking a State Gun. We all have State Flowers and State Birds, so why not a State Gun. I think it would be just one more show of force against the Liberal Anti Gunners that try to take them away every day. Missouri has always had a strong base in the gun industry with many factories located here. Browning and Winchester, CMMG, Fiocchi, and others come to mind. What would be your state gun? California, DC, and Mass may get interesting.....

F/S Article on State Gun.

With all the game birds, along with other small game and Deer hunting (rules). I'd have to go with the shotgun. Seems like everyone I know that has any guns, they all have atleast one shot gun in their collection.

I was going to say Iowa is definitely a shotgun state. I'd have to narrow it down to the 12 gauge in a pump action. I'm a Remington guy but I have seen a lot more Mossberg 12 ga pumps flying around Iowa.

I can not make any such Judgement for WA yet.

Tons of Remington 870 pump Wingmasters (also my choice) and yes, tons and tons of Mossbergs. Most kids start out with a 20 guage (some 410's) and move up to the 12 Guage.

Hate to guess how many 22 rifles are out there too.

Lots of shotty's in OH since we can't hunt deer with rifles. My first gun was an 11-87 for sporting clays.

Although... Hi-points are made here haha

For Michigan, I'd guess it would be a Glock, with the serial number rubbed off, the Detroit Special

After twenty years of litigation and many thousands of hours of bureaucracy shin-an-iguns California has chosen the Glock as the state gun.

The reasons were thus:

It needed to be a weapon not made in the USA

It needed to be able to be made from recycled products

It needed to not be able to shoot lead bullets as they pollute the waterways and can poison the wildlife

It needed to be able to self destruct when fired rapidly so as to make sure our streets are safer without a gun that will stand the test of time

It needed to be able to be dissembled by idiots without much thought

It needed to look like crap as to keep the kids from wanting one

It can not have a manual safety as most Californians can't be bothered with remembering "Red is Dead".
