Two Robbed Leaving the NC State Fair

A new law passed last year in NC would have made it legal to carry a concealed handgun to the NC state fair this year. However, N.C. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler, stating the law was vague choose to post against concealed carry anyway. A judge refused to overturn him and it will have to be settled before the next fair.

The commissioner promised it would be a safe event with added security and even police escorts to your vehicle if requested. Many report they were refused the escorts and reported that metal detectors were not always in place.

Guess what happened.......Two people were robbed at GUNPOINT walking to their vehicle after attending the fair. How's that gun free zone working out for you commissioner? Maybe the robbers didn't get the memo?????

My wife and I took our small grandchildren to the Texas State Fair last year. They were very accommodating.

I told the folks at the gate who were "wanding" everyone that I was a CC holder and was armed. They walked me part of the way to a Dallas police officer, who asked to see my permit and ID. After she had a look at them, she told me to enjoy the fair.

Fair Park in Dallas isn't in the best neighborhood either, and I sure wouldn't have wanted to walk the .5 mile back to the vehicle unarmed!

+1

It should have worked that way here too, this year, but the commissioner decided his opinion was better than the law.
