Who here has self-defense insurance?

I'm looking into some options and while I'd feel better knowing I have protection in case I wind up in a worst case scenario, I don't want to pay the cost of my Shield every year for that privilege... unless compelled due to common sense.

The USCCA options seem reasonably priced, but there's also the NRA endorsed one (which is the most expensive one that I've found...) and I also found the 'Armed Citizens' Legal Defense Network' subscription which seems to be a hybrid legal defense/expert witness type subscription...

I've been doing research over the last few months and have decided on CCW Safe as my Birthday gift to myself and my family. I have read some great reviews of them and I like how they cover members for any weapon, firearm or otherwise...

Many of the law firms like you mentioned hire a local to you lawyer on an "as needed" basis. Many of the local lawyers are "small potatoe" lawyers looking to make money when they can. And often the hiring law firm will hire the lowest bidding local lawyer too. The NRA often has lawyers in your area you can call when needed but it's best to research the best self defense lawyers in your area ahead of time, have their number on speed dial and hope for the best. IMHO of course!

I studied a lot of them and ended up with Armed Citizen Legal Defense Network. Their instructional videos are great and included in the first year fee. Monthly newsletter (journal) is also very informative. they have the who's who of advisors on the board. Hope in never have to rely on them, but I am confident that they will be there if ever need them.

Keep in mind that many, if not all, of these plans are not insurance plans. They state they will defend you for all legal activity. So, if your activity is legal, you shouldn’t need legal representation. Know your state laws and be able to articulate your actions in accordance with the law.

Being legal doesn't guarantee you won't be in court

Don't assume that just because what you did was legal you will not have to defend yourself in court to prove it was legal. When you are found innocent, you will still have to pay the attorney's bill.

SELF DEFENSE INSURANCE

Highly recommend joining USCCA. In addition to the benefits in case of an incident, they are a great organization for education. I am a Platinum member who hopefully will never have to use the coverage.
The monthly magazine they provide is very informative and describes incidents that happen around the country involving concealed carrying citizens. Great articles as well about gun safety and the legal end of carrying concealed.
I am also an NRA member and had looked into their coverage. I determined USCCA to have an overall better plan. Also, I believe that after the Parkland shooting, a rift ensued between Chubb Ins. and the NRA (Chubb was the underwriter for the NRA plan). If I am correct, Chubb was one of the companies that separated themselves from the NRA due to all of the negative publicity which placed so much of the blame for the Stoneman Douglas High shooting on the culture created by the NRA. I may not be totally accurate with my facts regarding Chubb but I do recall that somewhat of a rift occurred.

It is disgusting how law-abiding citizens have to consider insurance in the event they have to defend themselves or others?

To bad the state cannot be compelled to reimburse the citizen or the insurance company for the cost when the citizen is wrongfully prosecuted.
