FL CCW Licenses expedited for All Military and Vets

As you may already know, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed the authorization for all National Guardsmen for expediting the processing of CCW license in Florida, in light of the recent events in Tennessee. The Secretary of the Department of Agriculture (the agency responsible for issuing the licenses) authorized the department to expedite ALL NATIONAL GUARD, RESERVE, ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS, CURRENT OR RETIRED! All qualifying service members and veterans, whom do not yet have a CCW License, should go get it soon as possible, for reduced waiting times. Normal fees still apply.

Hope they take the opportunity while it's available.

I can't imagine not carrying.

Why the assumption a vet is somehow special? In fact they may need added scrutiny because they are vets. I know a lot of vets and overall there are more nut cases among them then the general public. It just sounds like political correctness BS..

Disagree. You have something against vets? Maybe it is because they(we) served our country.

What do you have against vets ? Did you get rejected from joining? MOST are not nut cases as you stated ! MOST vets have had training with weapons and trained on how to react! The reason you can grip about vets is because Vets died so you can have the right to grip and live free!!!!! YES I am a vet 1971 Viet Nam 3 of my sons are vets 1 with 2 tours of Afghanistan NONE of them are nuts !!! Did you piss me off YES but I am not nuts either!!!!!

It is statements like this that make our amazing veterans not want to reach out when they feel there is a problem, leading to 22 veterans a day dying right here at home.

I am quite sure you may hang around some veterans, but you don't "KNOW" any of them, or you wouldn't have ever had to ask what is special about a veteran.

Just spend a few minutes at any VFW hall and you will know a lot of those guys should not be allowed near guns again. My problem is it is just a political buzz word to say "Veterans" for most politicians. They just use them. I don't see why they need special treatment when it comes to CCW.

For that matter there should be special treatment for gays and blacks since they are often some of the most put apone by violence. Maybe women since they can be some of the most vulnerable. My point is, it makes no sense, just treat everybody equally. Don't be sucked in by political manipulation.

SO you base your assumption on the 20 /30 or so people you have seen in a VFW Hall! Vs meeting and talking to thousands of Vets ! WOW I bet you voted for OBAMA :O FYI Vet still have to get a back ground check before they get a CCW, And yes there are some people that should not have a gun . Just go to ANY local Bar :O SO by your terms people you meet in a bar who do not act like you would mean no one should have a gun as they are all drunks and screwed up ?

That's just an insane(no pun intended) statement to make. You must have had a very sheltered life as I have met hundreds of people in the general public during my time as an insurance adjuster before I retired and I can tell you that a lot were not stable. As pointed out to you before, they still have to go thru background check, just faster method to get there. You picked a piss poor place to badmouth vets.

Not sheltered, just realistic. I owned one of the most popular bars in south Florida for many years and it was close to a VFW hall. While they had their own bar many many came in my place. You sit around any public place bar or otherwise and hear people espouse their views and you get a pretty good read on people. They didn't have to be drinking.

There are a lot of nuts out there, we all know some who we, I am sure would not like to see walking around with a gun in their pocket. In Florida there is pretty much no requirements to get a ccw. No training required, nothing, just a basic background check. Just go to a gun show and you see guys show up in their camo walking around living out a fantasy. I am just saying.

Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine
So your saying the above law doesn't apply? Looks as if some training is required.

Florida is a joke. None of that means anything. I got my ccw at Bass pro shops and it was a joke. The place was packed they had to get extra chairs from other rooms. They gave a lecture for a while and at some point marched us to the range. We stood in line and when it was your turn he handed you a pistol and pointed you down range to fire three shots. That was it.

Then back to the room where they passed out a test that they talked you through telling you what to write in. They took your picture and you were done. About two weeks later you got a package in the mail with a bunch of official looking papers and your license.

Someone looking at the package would be lead to believe you went through some comprehensive course. The whole thing was bogus. You have this official looking certification of competency that is BS. In Florida they pass out CCW's like coupons at a supermarket. I can only hope it is not like that in other states I am sure it is not.
