Smith and Wesson has been coming out with the fastest assisted openers we have seen. They have also been coming out with great designs. This Military/Police series is exceptional. The styling is modern and utilitarian.

Here is the specs for one of these great models:

When you first open up this knife, the first words out of your mouth are going to be Its M.A.G.I.C.. And that is what this truly is!

M.A.G.I.C. stands for Multipurpose, Assisted, Generational, Innovative Cutlery. M.A.G.I.C. refers to the dual patented, revolutionary assisted opening mechanism that is an integral part of this series of knives. You will find that the M.A.G.I.C. assisted opening mechanism is the easiest, single handed opening system you have ever used. Once you have used it, you will know that its M.A.G.I.C.

Specifications

Handle: T6061 Aircraft Aluminum

Blade: 2.9″ (7.4 cm), Drop Point

Closed: 4.2″ (10.7 cm)

Steel: Stainless

Yes it's out now & one of the members here has purchased it already. It's said though that they are made in China.

1. Assisted openers are illegal here.

2. They should spend the time and money to have it made in the USA.

Not to step on toes, but honestly, the first thing I thought to myself when I saw that was that it was a stupid looking knife, and an obvious whoring out of the M&P name.

+1.... The S&W knives I've seen in the gun rags looks okay, but this one is funky.

Looking at a link in the knife review, they make a 'tanto blade' version that looks better IMO. It has the serrations found on the pistols.

Meh.

Looks like a prop from Star Trek.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a knife's handle is supposed to be gripped by a human hand, isn't it?

This looks like "style," such as it is, trumped ergonomics. Toylike.

I personally like the look of it. It looks deadly and modern. To each his own though. I believe I will be picking one of these up.
