Well, the ESEE collection kind of grew a bit since I last logged on. I ended up selling the 4S-CP to a buddy of mine and replaced it with an ESEE-4P in OD green. I'm up to 6 ESEE knives now and should probably take a break on buying anymore knives for a bit.

I've got:

1 ESEE-4P-OD with canvas micarta scales

1 ESEE-3MIL-P ("group buy" #33 of 50)

1 ESEE-3MIL-P-CP

1 ESEE-3-PM-OD with canvas micarta scales on the way

1 ESEE-Izula-II-OD

1 ESEE-Izula-OD with black TKC G10 scales

These knives are definitely not going to be safe queens with the exception of the "group buy" 3MIL-P. I'll take an updated family picture once the scales for my 3-PM-OD come in.

I'm jealous of your collection.

What's the best two-blade system normal camping/hiking/hunting use? I'm thinking an ESEE3 & ESEE6 combo would be able to do just about everything, from food prep to wood processing to shelter building. Or maybe the 4 & Junglas?

I think the -3 and -6 would make a great combo. The -3 is nice and thin so it would be good for food prep and small camp chores. On the ESEE forum the -6 seems to be the most popular choice for batoning wood without being huge like the Junglas. I personally would rather just use my Bacho folding saw and a small camp axe for processing wood and the -4 for batoning wood too small for an axe. My main camping knives will be the 4P-OD, 3-PM-OD, with the Izula-II as a backup.

Here an updated family picture taken with my cell phone. I didn't put the 3PM-OD in there because I've decided to sell it.

Logo on the "group buy" 3MIL.

Izula before I put on the TKC scales with the 9c.

I know, I know, the pics suck...

They were a little steep at $42 shipped but they're worth it IMO. They're made of G10 which is supposed to be some pretty good stuff.

New sheath from Godspeed. I got a pancake sheath with pouch, drop belt loop, additional standard loop with two mounting angles and firesteel holder.

The build quality is fantastic. The blade snaps in firmly and has zero wiggle. Would have been nice to see allen screws instead of flat heads, but this isn't much of a problem if you're careful when making adjustments. Blade locks in firmly with zero wiggle. Might be nicer to have a little bit less of a "snap" hold and more "friction" hold, but that's only my preference.

How well the two sheets of kydex are mated at the edge. It's almost impossible to see where the separation is.

All in all, his work gets an easy 9 out of 10. Highly recommended and a quick turnaround. Work started on Jan 27th, product delivered on Feb 4th.

Here are the -3 and -4 pouch sheaths from Godspeed. I think I'm just going to leave the -3 sheath without a pouch for now. Sorry this is a cell phone picture.

Here's the collection as of today. Sold my group buy 3MIL and got the -6 a few days ago. I think after the Candiru comes out I'll be done adding ESEE's to the collection. Man they're addicting...

Addictive for sure. Between these, guns, motorcycle parts and all the necessary extras I'm being bled dry. Albeit willingly.

Did you regrind the back edge of that canvas 3-MIL?

Yeah, I took a file to it the other day. I wanted to be able to use it as a backup fire steel striker. It works but not as good as I was hoping. It looks like crap now but I'm not worried about it. The knife still works...

My favorite.
