Any officers here use one of the M&P Compacts for their duty weapon - or any other compact for duty?

Not your BUG - Your primary pistol?? Or know an officer who does?

Just curious - Thanks.

If it's not going to be concealed i see no reason to go with the compact.

Even for a CCW i prefer the full size personally.

I'm sure there's always someone...but i doubt you'll find many at all.

Since we generally carry concealed it's not exactly the same situation, but I do know a fair number of guys that carry G26 and G27s as their primary. Makes no sense to me, but they do it. I carry a G22 or G23 as primary with a G27 as a BUG. The fastest reload is often a second gun

One of my fellow officers carries a compact. He had a grip extension done so that the 9c will accept a full size mag. I myself carry a full size, but after putting a few rounds downrange with his, I'm considering doing the same thing to my own 9c.

I love my MP9c, but would not carry it as a primary duty weapon, even in plainclothes. The full size MP is compact enough to carry concealed in coat and tie, and even under an untucked shirt if need be. I know, cause I've done it. Where other guns are concerned, I think the Glock 19/23 is about the perfect middle sized pistol. Big enough for uniform/open carry, small enough for concealed carry. Maybe (gasp!) I'm gonna get one someday!

I've seen more than a few using mid-size pistols for uniformed, on-duty carry. These would include: Colt Commanders & sim, Glock 19s and 30s. No issues with the idea or execution.

I don't "Know" anyone who carries a compact on duty. I have sold many Mag Sleeves to LEOs for qualifying with their issued M&P compact. Whether they were/are plain clothes officers/detectives or uniformed I can't say(don't know).

So...I had the grip extension done on my compact, threw on some trijicon low lights, and am now carrying the M&P9c on duty. Works very well and I'm as accurate if not more accurate with my compact. I highly recommend it.

I know a guy who did what luvmy40 said. Purchase a mag sleeve then carry a full size mag in his 40c

works for him

True compacts? No.

Did have two co-workers who carried mid-size pistols as their primary (openly carried) duty pistol. One used a Colt Commander, the other a Glock Model 30.

I've been working UC for the past 23 years. I started out with a 2" snubby, old school, switched to a 6906 then to a 3913. About 3 years ago I started carrying a Para Ord 16-40 (little heavy and a lot bulky) but I would have no problem carrying my M&P45 FS (much lighter and less bulk that the Para) providing I could find a suitable belt holster.

I carried a HK P7m13 for a few years. loved it and wish I still could carry it. Always shot it better than anything else.

One of the local departments carry glock model 36's as their standard pistol. They are fine with its size and capacity as their primary duty weapon.
