m&p with "tactical trigger"?

This is a discussion on m&p with "tactical trigger"? within the Law Enforcement forums, part of the Armory category; jlw: My agency (rent-a-cop) doesn't care as long as the sidearm isn't something towed behind the car.... Of course you're correct where there's an agency ...

Of course you're correct where there's an agency policy. But I'm a sneaky SOB and IMHO the Apex (or Burwell) drop safety mod is rather like using some paint to highlight the gun's S&W logo.

YMMV of course.

I'm enough of a Mas Ayoob believer to tell people to never remove a manufacturer-supplied safety device except that orange plastic that sometimes is in the chamber .... But this isn't a safety device. It's a safety improvement....

(If you put the whole kit in, you WILL get a drop in the trigger weight and may risk the dreaded "dead trigger" issue without getting that upgrade too, but that's enough of a change to presume the armorer noticing even if nobody else did. I wouldn't advise that without permission....)

I am aware of the agency's risks (not to mention the Officer's) with unauthorized modifications. I just don't think the drop safety mod should be a problem.

(Not to mention that you can just dry fire the crap out of it and get a good part of the improvement.)

Many years ago, some of the guys at the local PD used to complain that the Brass treated them like children. Some of those guys needed even more supervision but the Supervisors weren't really good at such things....

Regards,

From what we were told the trigger is currently going to come with agency purchased firearms, but not individual officer purchased from a LE dealer, yet. Soon it is supposed to be available to LE dealers only. We seem to ask weekly we were are going to get the new configuration as well as the trigger itself.

Is this a modification to the sear housing block or is this a new sear itself?

To date, no one has been able to answer the question in regards to what this trigger actually is and how it differs from the standard guns.

Its official, as far as modification for the new trigger "its a combination of trigger bar and rear sear housing"
