I have searched and found some discussions, but I haven't found a definite yes or no answer. My question is will the M&P40 fit in a Glock 20/21 duty holster? I tried to put it in my Glock 22 holsters, and it is a no go. I'm having trouble finding a Safariland holster for the M&P, but can find duty holsters for Glocks on Ebay all day long. Thanks.

Can't help you on the "will it fit" question, but have you looked at Opticsplanet.com for one? Go to safariland's website and get the number of the one you want and search opticsplanet.com for it. Here's a 6360-219-81 they have listed for the M&P.

Thanks Ray. I've always had good luck finding lightly used Safariland holsters on Ebay, but I was having trouble because the M&P is not as common as the Glock. I bought a duty holster from a cop off of another forum for my M&P w/ Streamlight, but I'm thinking it will be too bulky. Did I mention that I'm a tightwad?

I would advise against using a holster not designed for your gun. The savings is not worth the risk when the poop hits the fan and you're trying to pull your strap from the wrong rig. Don't give the bad guys any edge!

I agree with you. The only reason I'm even entertaining the idea is that a few kydex holsters were manufactured for the G21 and M&P and even stamped for both. It just got me wondering.

I bought one specifically for the m&p and it works perfect. I can send you the part no when I get home

Mine is part number 6377-219-412 but that is the left handed one. It really works well and has a very secure and positive engagement when the pistol is holstered

Thanks, Crcjk. I've got one just like it for my G22 and love it, but I need a duty holster. I think I'm gonna go with the 6280 or 6360.

You will be pleased with the 6360. When we bought M&P 45's we got these holsters. Everyone was happy with the chioce.

I ended up getting a 6280 with light attachment for my TLR-1s. I like it. And by the way, Safariland G20/21 holsters do not fit. I tried 3 different duty holsters, and the M&P must be thicker.

Looks good.

I had to buy the same holster last week as my department is forbidding tactical drop down holsters and requiring basketweave. Anyone need a LNIB ALS for a FS M&P with light?

I run a safariland as well but use a surefire x300. Send pics of your holster for sale to me at rbayhurst@gmail.com. and as for the picture do you like carrying you mags same side as your firearm up and down. I carry mine same side horizontal with the mag pouch opening towards my buckle.

Your best bet is to get a holster designed for your weapon. Especially a duty holster! Don't trust your life to a holster not made for your gun. Many of them have retention devices that will only work for the intended firearm it was made for.

I [we] use Safariland 6280 at work...they are a very good Level II duty holster. The very precise fit is at least partly what makes gun grabs next to impossible, and it stil allows for a pretty fast draw.

I have another 6280 for my M&P45 and I'm about to order one for my Sig P226. We're not allowed to carry off duty here in the True North Strong and Free, so I'm going exclusively with my duty holster style for range use.
