Who uses Night Sights

I am looking to find a set of "night sights" for my M&P 45 FS my duty weapon any suggestions I was looking at the TRU GLO TFO but was reading about breakage and the fibers falling out. Thanks in advance for your help.

Recommend you take a look at Ameriglo. AmeriGlo Weapon Sights | Night Sights. I have them on a M&P compact and a Shield. Great quality and perfect fit, available in several configurations. Hope this helps. Be safe, shoot straight!

I use the TFO yellow/green and love them. They work well, shine bright, and I have not had any issues. Just make sure to keep solvents and oil away from the sights when you are cleaning.

Just keep in mid that it will change you poa/poi. From stock sights to TFO, I shoot a little low and left. I had to adjust the sights and relearn aiming (probably because I suck - ymmv).

A little superglue on the fiber will keep them in place. If you really want to make sure they don't go anywhere, a little acrylic will go a long way.

Using factory night sights. Works well for me.

"Breakage" seems to come mostly from people not using a sight-pusher to install them. You should never "whack" a tritium sight with a hammer and punch.

As for the fibers falling out, most of the incidents I've seen reported were from some time ago, and may not be a current problem, but if you're worried about it, a tiny drop of transparent glue wouldn't hurt. Mine on my FS 40 have been just fine with no additions.

TFO fiber breakage is an old problem, not many reports anymore. Whatever you do, don't put supergllue on them because it makes the fiber optic brittle

I have TFO's on a Sig and like them. Waiting for the Trijicon HD's to come out for the Shield to put on. I have a small discrepancy on my front site TFO that is more of an annoyance than an issue. When I look at the front sight in low light or total darkness I notice a pin sized point that the Tritium does not glow thru. Looking carefully it is a tiny piece of the acrylic or whatever the sight is mode out of that is chipped, thus causing the Tritium glow to be distorted.

I had to do it again, I'd probably get the Trijicon HD Sights on all of my pistols. The Ameriglo is the same thing, I just don't care for the Ameriglo rear sight.

My duty Glocks have always had standard trijicon night sights. I just got some trijicon HDs for my personal Glock. I am in love. I might replace the standard night sights on my M&P with them eventually.

I have Trijicons on my M&P 40 which I bought from a Milwaukee PO. He bought his gun back when he was issued a new one & decided he needed the money more than another gun. MPD guns come with factory night sights automatically including the second issue. I like them. The M&P 40C which I ordered from a local police supply store will also come equipped with them. MPD had Glocks until a few years ago & those also came equipped with Trijicons. I think I can assume that after all these years they've proved reliable.

I also have the TFO's on my FS9. Grn front/yellow rear. Love em. As was mentioned, the problems seem to have been corrected long ago.
I also have Ameriglo Pro Operators on a G26. The TFO's are brighter but larger. I mean REALLY bright. The Operators are smaller, and not quite as bright but seem to have a more defined edge. In other words, they appear sharper.
That said, I prefer the TFO's and my eyes do pick them up better although I do wish the front sight were just a tad more narrow.
I haven't used anything to secure the front fiber and I've shot the hell outa this thing. I've wondered if super glue would cloud the fiber and if just a small dab of clear silicone might be a better choice?

I have truglo TFO's on a XD .45 i own and they have held up through over a thousand rounds so i would not worry about them. I also have some trijicons in my M&P40c and love them. Am putting trijicon HD's in my XDm soon after shootig with them in a friends gun in low light. Even have tritium front post in my Troy irons.

Have seen some reviews on ameriglow about the tritium dying quickly so i avoid them, which sucks because they make a set i would love to have on a personal defense /carry gun.
