So I got my 9FS back from S&W Friday from getting my "dead trigger" fix. I went to the range today and shot a cornucopia of different ammo. 124gr Winchester NATO, 124gr Golden Sabre, 124gr Hydra-Shok, 115gr Rem "green box", and 124gr Geco. I shot about 50 rounds of each, except the Geco I shot 100 rounds.

I had no malfunctions of anykind except the Geco had 6 FTF's. They were all light primer hits and when I tried them again about half fired the second time. Anybody out there have trouble like this with Geco?

I had to google Geco 9mm to figure out what you were talking about, I've never heard of this brand before, though I have heard of Dynamit Nobel who manufactures it. Apparently the primer cups that they use are harder than normal, so that would explain why you may have had a few light strikes. A lot of people with lighter springs in their competition guns reported having the same problem, while using them in regular carry guns was fine. Two other things that would shy me away is the fact that it uses a mild steel jacket gilded with copper and they have a smaller flash hole than normal, which could make depriming them harder for reloading.

Here is the actual history of Geco from the official web site

http://www.geco-ammunition.com/geco-world/brand/

PS it was the official match ammunition supplier for the IPSC World Shoot in Rhodes

I have personally run a couple of boxes through my .40FS with no problem.

The Geco was a tighter group than the other bulk ammo I have bought, and I hear that the primers are a bit harder than our domestic primers. I was also having issues with 8" groups at 15 yards while sitting and supporting the pistol on a sandbag. I wonder if it's related to the light primer hits??? (With my CZ-82 9x18 I usually get better groups than that while standing up.)

If you browse the board, you'll see that quite a few people have had accuracy issues with the FS9, me included. I ended up sending my FS9 back to Smith, when I got it back it had cut the groups basically in half. Has to do with early unlocking of the barrel, which isn't something you can fix on your own unless you replace the barrel with an aftermarket one, which may not fit any better than the factory barrel. Barsto will be making barrels and selling them through Apex that will require gunsmith fitting, but that's still months away from what I last read.
