Anybody have an idea why Hydra Shok is pricier than HST Tactical?

I found this interesting:

https://youtu.be/-lGqdMdbir0

He did a full series on the 9mm shot through a 3" barrel and a series on the .380 shot from a pocket pistol (Taurus 738 TCP). Consistent testing parameters revealing some interesting results.

Just switched from Critical Defense to HST in my carry guns...A great load.
As a matter of fact, I only have a new M&P 9 Ported with C-more STS..
All of my other carry guns are Glocks or XDs They all now have HST (found a small supply at a local gun show in West Palm Beach Fla,,,And I jumped on it)
Hard to find these days

Good thing you used your Shield and not your Glock 19, or you might have missed the jugs at 10 feet.

I haven't seen any of their documentation stating whether or not they are bonded. Just about every test or review always seems to come back the same, good penetration, good consistent expansion (pretty flowers ), doesn't clog when shot through heavy fabric (4 X 16 oz denim), the bullet stays intact, etc. It's not just the video I posted above, but many more.

I don't mean to bust your bubble, but: Ammo Quest 9mm: HPR 115-grain XTP tested in ballistic gel

I know this is the HPR load and the barrel length is shorter, but it didn't perform quite as well as the HST.

All four loads tested with the Hornady XTPs did perform well in his .380 tests. They met the 12"-18" penetration bare gel and denim tests. Ammo Quest .380 Final Wrapup: finding the BEST ammo for a .380ACP pistol

I would believe that any ammo tested in in his videos might have slightly more penetration and/or expansion with slightly longer barrel of the 9c.

I've really enjoyed his Ammo Quest videos. He does about as good as anyone can doing video blogs. I also like that he tests the ammo from the typical small caliber pocket/concealed carry guns. The type of gun that would most likely be used in an emergency situation.

We've been buying Federal HST (which are not bonded, btw) by the case for several years, except in 165 gr. 40S&W. The O.P.'s picture is about a 20% smaller version of the expanded bullets we typically pull out of water jugs, and from the Shield our slugs usually end up in the 4th jug, too (4th or 5th jug from a f/s)

Thanks for the link. I might pick up some different 9mm after watching that.
