Wow, they really like it, 20 rounds for about the same price that I paid for 50 rounds just about a week ago! But they do have it in stock, where SG Ammo has run out.

That is the Personal Defense version instead of the Law Enforcement version:

Federal Premium® Personal Defense® 9mm Luger 124 Grain HST® Ammo, 20 rds. - 292374, 9mm Ammo at Sportsman's Guide

50 rd box - 9mm Federal HST 124gr HP hollow point LE ammo P9HST1 - limit 5 | SGAmmo.com

I was at a gun shop in colonial heights, VA last week. They had a good supply of popular self-defense ammo in stock...all popular brands. Some were 20 rd boxes, but the HST were 50 rounds boxes. Picked up a box of HST 9mm 124 grain with tax for $32.00. Sounds high, but when you add in shipping for the same ammo online, it is a wash. It is a personal choice where and when to purchase, but that shipping can add considerably to the order total!

That's why when I do make an order with sgammo or any online ammo purchase I buy a few boxes. Usually I'll grab like a box or 2 of sd ammo then a couple boxes of target ammo in various calibers if there a good buy. My last order I think was 12 boxes total and shipping was 15 bux.

The shipping is expensive, to make it work you have to purchase several boxes to spread out the shipping cost, and be ordering something which isn't easily available locally. For me, locally I can find the 20 round boxes, but they are so expensive its still cheaper to order the 50 round boxes of law enforcement ammo, to me the 50 round boxes are important because you need enough rounds to properly function and feeding check the ammo in your pistol, you can't do that with a 20 round box, a full size 9mm mag holds 17 rounds, leaving you with no ammo to reload or function check.

Hey bullseye250,

I'm in Chester, just north of Colonial Heights. Mind sharing the name of the gun shop where you purchased the 50 round HSTs?

I searched the last gun show here in central NC about 3 weeks ago, high and low and couldn't find any LE HST Tactical (specifically the 124gr +p) anywhere and haven't found any in local stores either. A dealer told me that he thought federal was discontinuing the HST line. have you guys heard anything about that?
