Perfecta .40 cal 170 gr. Issues.

Good morning. Has any one had issues with perfecta 170 gr. .40 ammo? I ran 50 rounds through my fullsize m&p with multiple failure to feeds. The round would jam on the feed ramp. I could get each round to fire by pulling the slide back and letting it slide into the barrel. The gun has been flawless so far.

no, but it definitely sounds like lousy ammo, I wouldn't shoot or buy that ammo anymore...the bullets, actually the whole cartridge may be too long, that's why you have feeding issues...

That's what I've been thinking. I'm going to stick to federal. Their aluminum cased ammo is very affordable, feeds great and is clean.

I've had zero problems with the cheapo aluminum case Federal in both Shield and FS so far. Have used perfecta in 9mm though a P99 with no problems, but never have tried it in 40.

I have used at least 150 rounds in my 9c. It's not .40 but in 9. I have had not issues. It fires and ejects well. And it's not too dirty either.

I did a 1+1 with some pmc & winchester ammo also 9mm. No issues and couldn't tell the difference.

This was perfecta 115 grain brass cartridge..

It's $13.99 at walmart vs aluminum federal that's $10 a box.

Thought i chime in. Even though I'm running 9mm not .40cal..

My first outing with my MP45 was a real disappointment (many FTF) and I first blamed it on the Perfecta ammo I used but since I smoothed the extractor hook and installed new mag springs it chows through any ammo non-stop. Perfecta was marketed as BrassMax as well and I understand it's Fiochhi manufactured for the Tula works. I'm going to find and buy Federal Aluminum whenever I can now. For target fun I can't ignore the price and it runs just fine.

I've not had any problems with Perfecta in 9mm or .40 s&w. It feeds just fine through my M&P's.

I never had a problem with Perfecta 40 S&W so far and I shot about 150 rounds through my full size .40

Purchased a 9mm and .40 in m&p shield. No issue with 9 but perfecta amMO would not feed in .40. Noticed a manufacturer flaw on feed ramp smoothed it out with emery cloth. Also crimped the factory perfecta ammo and will go test fire. I will let you know the results.

I haven't had any issues running Perfecta in my Shield (9mm) or either of my 40 cal (FS & 40L).

Ran a box today as a matter of fact.

I just got back from the range with an M&P 40 Pro 5". Continuous FTF with Perfecta 170g. Came here and searched. Found this tread. +1 for not putting it through mine.

However, Perfecta in 9mm runs flawlessly through compact.

I just made the mistake of using the Perfecta 170gr .40 for the first time during an IDPA match. I think I had more than 40 FTFs that ruined my match. I had never had an issue with any ammo in my FS M&P 40 after almost 5k rounds so I didn't think any ammo would stop this gun. I compared the Perfecta .40 with a Federal 180gr FMJ and the OAL was the same. The Federal bullet has a rounded profile from the flat nose to the max dia of the bullet where the Perfecta had a flat section leading from the nose. I feel the flat profile of the Perfecta rounds could be the cause of the feeding issues. I had used the Perfecta ammo in 45acp with my FS M&P 45 and had no issues.
