This is a OT ammo question for .22 sources

I looked for a OT forum so I hope its ok to post here.... I can't find any .22. CB Long 29 grain ammo.

This stuff is uber quiet and perfect for backyard plinking without bothering anyone

Does anyone know of a source? Everywhere I look its out of stock

I am running low so I need to restock

Thanks !!

Steve

.22. CB Long? That's a new one on me... Can you shoot .22L or .22S in it?

CCI ( the company) makes rounds called "CB Long" which are 29 grain ball nose 22 rounds that are very quiet - like hands clapping loud

That was a new one on me, I've seen and shot 22 long in my dad's old single shot 22 rifle, also shot 22 CB, but never heard about 22 CB long! As I recall, 22 CB caps came in short cases, maybe there is some advantage to using a long case, I guess that's what it is.

I belief that Colibri makes those in short, long, and LR.

I've seen them at a LGS.

A friend told me that the " CB shorts" are widely available.... what is the difference?, I'm afraid I know little about ammo.

My Henry levers actions barrel stamps indicates it takes S and LR rounds

Anything I need to consider before I order another 500-1000 rounds of this shorty stuff?

CCI CB Longs have been around since the late 1970's. The advantage to them over the CB shorts is that they'll feed just as well as regular LR in guns that have issues feeding 22 shorts.

The old standard designations for 22 were:

22 BB caps
22 CB caps
22 short
22 long
22 long rifle

22 BB caps and 22 CB caps are the same thing except for the bullet, the 22 BB caps used a round ball (BB), the 22 CB caps used a conical bullet (pointed), the only difference was the bullet shape.

A little research finds that 22 CB short and 22 CB long, are just 22 CB caps in a 22 short or 22 long case, a 22 CB cap had a shorter case than a 22 short, so left chamber deposits at the end of the case, same thing with the longer long and long rifle which used the longer case. So a 22 CB short is designed to be used in guns than normally shoot a regular 22 short, and a 22 CB long is designed to be used in guns that normally shoot 22 long or long rifle and not leave excessive chamber deposits.
