M&P 357 compact

Anyone have 357 compact? I have a 40 compact that I also bought a 9mm conversion. I was wondering if anyone had a 357c or had converted one, and how it was holding up. Thanks!

Just put a Storm Lake .357 barrel in my 40C two weeks ago. Shoots great with no problems.

So am I to understand properly that if I buy a M&P 40c it can be converted to both a 9mm and a 357 sig with nothing more than a new barrel and possibly new mag?

Yes. For shooting .357 all you'll need is a factory barrel. The .40 mags will work. Shooting 9mm is a bit more tricky. You'll need a conversion barrel + mags as a factory barrel doesn't provide a proper lock up. There are many threads about this on the forum, just do a search.

Several companies make the after market conversion barrels, such as Storm Lake, KKM, etc.! Hope this helps!

I would love to find a factory 357 compact barrel, but its been hard. I went to midway and all they have right now is the blackened stainless which costs 180 dollars. I want to get the conversion but I am not ready to drop that much money. I will have to be patient.

Hello.
I have a dedicated 357 Sig Compact I obtained in a trade about 4 years ago. Haven't shot it a lot, but carry it from time to time. Purchased a factory 40 cal barrel for it, and just have never shot any rounds through the 40 cal barrel yet.

Mine is the safety version, am going to convert it to non-safety on a trial basis. I posted a photo of it in the picture thread recently, after having the slide treated with DLC Ion Bond. The slide is now matte black.

Mine came from Summit Gunbroker late last year.
It was a "police trade-in". $339.
It was absolutely new, unfired since the factory.
Must have been the Chief's gun.
Applied for and received the S&W rebate on it.
March 2010 build date.
Shoots great with everything from 90 grain screamers to 147 grain thumpers.
Night sights are a bit dim, however.
Definitely a keeper.

I purchased a .357C about four years ago and have never had a problem. The .357C is much more comfortable to shoot than my SIG 239 or Glock Models 32 and 33.

I have used this for LEOSA qualification and has become my regular concealed carry pistol. To bad Smith has not continued regular production/availability.

I also have a full-size .40 M&P and purchased a .357 factory barrel from Midway for a reasonable price which is often my "car gun" when traveling. Smith certainly hit a home run with both these pistols.

I have a 357c and use it as my everyday conceal carry, I carry it in a Raven Concealment trigger guard holster, Only mod I have made is a set of Dawson fiber optic fronts and a black rear sight. Great gun, accurate, not too heavy, grip feels great, etc, etc, I like the caliber so much I have started to reload for it. I like the pistol so much I sold all my Glocks.

I think I just read the answer to my question on this thread but i'll ask anyways, Since mine is the dedicated .375 c can I still convert it to 40 cal.by swapping barrels?. I know you can change a 40 cal gun to 357, and I've done that to my 5" 40 pro.

Yes, the 357 to 40 swap works either way, with the same mags.
