M&P40c

Just stepped up to the 40c from the 9 shield. The Shield was great to carry but shoots terrible. Completely blown away at how comfortable the 40c is, just worn it around the house but for some reason it carries better than the shield. Going to run a couple hundred rounds through it this weekend then hoping to make it my primary carry.

Welcome to the forum. I bought my 40c with the intent of buying a 9mm barrel, but like it so much, that I didn't bother. Probably somewhere around 1500 rounds and not one hiccup. I love my 40c!

Welcome from Wisconsin!

I fully intended to get an 9mm and a 357 SIG barrel for my 40C but never got around to it. Fully happy with .40 cal. I also have a full size M&P40 (loaned out at this time). I use the mags in my compact with X Grip spacers. Feels just like the FS 40.

Shield shoots terrible hmmm
I enjoy shooting my 40 and 45 shields.
Both are very accurate and comfortable shooters. At least for me.
Have a fullsize G3 s&w 40 but prefer shooting the shield.

Have fondled many a C version just dont see justification in purchase when they are so close in size.

Oh well enjoy the 40C.

Let me rephrase, I shoot the shield terrible. 6'1" 275, the grip is just too narrow for my hands. The 40c just feels like it was made for my hand.

I think I'm going to put 1k rounds through it for reliability (want S&W to pay for any repairs if needed) then put the DCAEK kit in. Other than that I plan to leave it alone.

That's not unusual, the Shield does have a fairly narrow grip which helps it be easier to conceal. The full size or compact fits me better than the Shield, so its reasonable that your compact might fit your hands better, therefore shoot better.

True and I agree. I have fairly large hands as well.
And as a result all flush mags for shields were sold/traded and I only run extended. Pinky lands on grip and as far as concealment the difference in mags is nonissue for my typical type of attire.

I still may snag a C someday but Id go for the 45C

I love my Shield 9mm. I get very good groups at 7-10 yards and that's all I expect should I need it. I have the 40 and find in a hurry, the second shot is not a good one due to the snappyness I can shoot a very good double tap with the 9.
