New 2017 M&P 9c

My new M&P 9c came in quickly from GabA Gun last Thursday. I already have a 9 ported Shield that I really do like as a favorite. The 9c is agreat shooter & I shot about 120 shots the first time out with no problems.

Accuracy was excellent & I shot 5 different groups with the best being about 2.5" square & 2 about 3x 3.5. 95% of my shots went into those groups &. I put all 120 shots on one target. I shot at 25'.

115 gr shot more accurately than 124 gr. The recoil was slightly softer than my ported Shield although both were great. I am 86 & this is still a real joy for me & now we have a beautiful brand new indoor range. It is the nicest I have ever seen.

The only problem I had was the rack was a lot harder than I expected. Maybe like the Shield it will ease up. The Shield has gotten soft enough that I hardly ever need the racker. I will post my targets as soon as I get some pictures.

The gun was made in Jan 2017 & cost right at $400 shipped. The trigger was just about as good as the ported Shield. Very happy.

My 9c ( which I've modded just a bit) is an excellent shooting pistol; really not giving up anything other than capacity compared to my 4 1/4" M&P 9's.

Larry, I just saw the XDE Springfield with a hammer. That got me excited. They are just out & tooooo expensive, $800 + on GB. I am too old to keep doing this, but our new gun range is beautiful. I can't believe in a little town like this.
Just checked, they are $519 list.

I checked out the XDe... not for me, i`m not a fan of Springfield`s,
they sold us out on the 2nd amendment... they`ll never get a dime from me.

Congrats on that gun range...!

LOL
SW sold out long ago when Billie Clinton was in office.
Not an XD fan but the things I see about "no e of my money to company X" make me laugh.

I dont support what RI and SA did however.

Only Springfield I want is a nice M1 anyway.

S&W was sold shortly after that happened. It is a far different company today.

I have good & bad days with my hands & wrists & even fingers, so I ended up putting a piece of Talon grip tape over my racking grooves & it really made it easier. I have been doing that to all my hard to rack guns & it does make a big difference. I cut one piece from a tape pattern that goes over the top & ties both sides together. It holds up way better that way.

Larry I guess I miss most of the news about who is bad in the gun mfg world, but I do like Springfields. The ones I have had were beautifully made with super good mags that load easy. I do love my S&W M&P's . Easier racking means as much to me as anything on a gun, except being dependable. The hardest racking gun I have ever had was a Shield, but I have my new ported Shield broken in enough & even the porting seems to make it rack easier. Don't know why it would, but it broke in pretty fast.

I had a subcompact XD9 years ago.

It shot fine, but they're just too damn "blocky" for me.

Same with Sigs; they just seem like they're "bigger than they need to be." That may be OK for a service pistol; not so great for a carry gun.

You are right about blocky Rick, I had an XD2 . The XDs9 is the only small one not so square. Sigs are just what you said, bigger than they need to be. I had 3 P230's, a 225, 226, 228, & a 239. At the same time I had an S&W 3913 & liked it a lot more than my 239.

I hear THAT on the PC shield, mine was sweet running after it broke in an settled down. Now its a joy to shoot. Shoots way smoother (trigger) than my glock43. And it racks just as easy as my G43 too. Cant ever decide which one i like to carry the most though, they both blow the bullseyes right out of the targets, and are equal accurate at 50ft all day long. But my PC has a much nicer trigger.

No argument their brother...! The XD`s recoil is not that nice either, the shields are far softer shooting. Seems every XD trigger i pull, is just terrible too.
