I think I can see your problem, since the M&P uses magazines its no wonder the pistol wouldn't run right. I am a bit puzzled about how the cheap stuff would work, nothing should work out of a clip. As a practical matter, clips are used to load magazines, the magazine then feeds the ammo to the chamber. Please see images below.

I have had my 9c for a few months now. I traded a Shield 9mm to get it. IMHO, it feels great in my hands, shoots great for me, and conceals very nicely. A lot of people complain about the trigger, but I really like it. Mine came new with 3 mags, and night sights. I called S&W and they sent me a pinky extension for the 1 flat base plate mag I had.

I'm interested in your reasons for trading the Shield in for a 9c. I have a 9c and love it but I have never had a Shield. Also is the 9c trigger different than the Shield?

The 9c just felt better in my hand. I shot both guns well, and really could not tell a difference in the two triggers.

I have both, the 9c that I just got & have put 250 rounds thru & a ported Shield 9 that I really love. The new ,Jan 17, 9c has a trigger just about like the new Mod 2 9. It is good ,but is 7# or slightly more & the Shield is much smoother with a 5# + or minus trigger.

Right now the Ported Shield is my favorite gun. The recoil is very good because I put over 100 rounds the first time out & that is alot for a very old man. Racking the Shield was very hard at first, but has eased up a lot since being shot about 300 rounds now. I had a very early Shield 4 or more years ago & got rid of it in a month because of the hard racking. I use Handi rackers now on hard to rack guns. They are great.

Great looking compact! I have always been interested in the compact. Never even held one though. Usually carry my Shield 9 and when I want more capacity I go with my FNS9c. When they come out woth the M2.0 compact, I am going to give it a serious look though!

I took your very good advice and received this in the mail on Friday.

The full size 17-rd mag and an Xgrip. I'll try it out next week on range day.

I love this pistol!

I don't know if yall know it but I was able to get Academy to price match Buds Professional discount, plus 5% so I was out the door for $398 for mine. Worth asking your local Academy store. Its also well worth getting the xgrip and 17rd mag.

I have a hard time racking a lot of guns because of age, so I put Talon grip material on like this & tie it together at the top. I usually do a whole grip with the grip kit, but I tried it like this on the 9c.

Arachnigrip (i think that's the name) makes a grip tape cut specifically for the slide. It is cut for each different model to fit perfectly.

Plus one on the Arachnigrip. Cut perfectly for the grip serrations on the M&P pistols.

I put one on the front end of my Pro CORE to help rack from the front of the slide.
