Compact 9mm Love

While waiting for my brand new, unfired (?) Shield 9 to make it's way through the S&W warranty repair process, I found a local guy selling a 9C for a decent price (though it was still more than I paid for the Shield with the special pricing and rebate).

Took her home and cleaned her up today. She seems nicely broken in, a little holster wear from the previous owner, which is fine.

Here's some pictures. I gave $375 for her.

Nice Dave, very nice... I like the compact`s myself too... great guns, adequate ammo capacity for their size. Even thought the shields are much easier to conceal and carry, i still like the compacts... they just fit perfect in your hand. My gun safe will always have a few compacts. Just wish they`d hurry up and release that friggin m2.0 compact...lol

Been carrying my compact for many years now and love it. Might carry a shield if wearing shorts and a t-shirt in 90 deg weather but other than that I'll keep the compact.

Nice buy Dav, I just got one a few weeks ago & it is a good shooter. I cut some Talon & put it on the front & back grip areas & the racking grooves. I am real old & need all the help I can get on racking. I have always used the full Talon grips, but this worked real well. I also painted, Lacquer, the back of the front sight white with a red dot. I do that a lot & it is nearly as good as my Big Dot sight.

PaPow, I tried a new S&W M&P 9 at my dealers yesterday & the trigger does not feel any better than my 2017 9c & I like my Talon on the grip areas as well , if not better , than the new M&P grips..

No argument from me my friend, thats what my opinion of it was, too. Now if a person already has the 1.0 compact, there really is no point in buying the m2.0
I`m actually thinkin about the 1.0 in the compact that my LGS has for sale. Its used but was never once chambered or fired. Only thing stopping me is the color of it... looks like baby poop...lol. I think they call this the FDE color. The price is right... $275 (comes with the original box and 4 mags)

Talon grips are AWESOME...!!! I love them, as long as they stay glued to the gun...lol. I`ve had a few that didnt stay on the grip very long. I even cleaned the grip real well, but some would just not stay on the gun, started peeling off a couple weeks after installation. I think talon may have changed their glue recently, cause the last couple talon`s i got, stuck like cement...!

I`m just not a huge fan of the grip texture on the m2.0 yet. Its surely not a deal breaker though.

congrats!! I love my 9C, if I can wear appropriate clothing to conceal it comfortably, I leave my shield at home and carry my 9C. I find it much easier to shoot accurately as well. In an OWB Stealthgear "Flex" holster, it's my favorite EDC set up.

Larry, I guess I'm a sick dog, because I really like the baby poop FDE. I would have bought one if they had one with a safety. They do not. At least with the FDE color you know that you are getting the newer model with the better trigger. I would grab it at that price.

I have never had a problem with any of my Talon coming off & I have used a lot of it. I wash with rubbing alcohol , dry & put the Talon on & then use a hair dryer on it. The only Talon that came loose was the stuff i put on my racking grooves. Now I make a masking tape pattern that goes over the top & ties the sides together. no problem now. It used to come loose at the front where you push against it. Now the top strip ties it down better.

Larry, maybe I like the FDE because I have cleaned the cat box too often. Whatever, I like it.

9c love

I really have loved my 9c also. I have had my .40 shield for about 2 years, well second one anyway, but love shooting the 9c. I don't know if yall know it but I was able to get Academy to price match Buds Professional discount, plus 5% so I was out the door for $398 for mine. Worth asking your local Academy store. Its also well worth getting the xgrip and 17rd mag.

^^^^^^^

I tried the promag 32 round clip but the only ammo it would feed was the cheap Federal aluminum stuff. Great fun though for zombies
