So what does that mean? Was mine an early one?

The serial numbers started at MPA0000 or MPA0001 and progressed up numberically and then alphabetically. The most recent revisions occured during the MPBxxxx series, so you're all set.

Having a registry also allows one to compare the serial number of their gun with others. If there is a certain serial number range with problems, it would also be more likely it is not an isolated incident.

Sorry about that, when I originally posted I wasn't paying attention to this being the compact thread. I am not certain about the compact serial start-up but mine was purchased early on and is an MPLxxxx. I have yet to hear of any prior to that so it is probably a safe presumption. Either way I haven't heard of any compact revisions at this point.
