Well, I finally had the chance to shoot my new M&P 45. As long as I did my part, it shot superbly in terms of accuracy. At 21 feet it was putting them into pretty close to one hole. Of course I was using sandbags just to check its accuracy potential. But shooting offhand at 25 yards, it was also shooting very nice groups.
I did encounter some problems with failure to feed. Occasionally when I would reload and insert the magazine, there seemed to be some slop or play with the magazine in the butt of the gun. In other words, the magazine did not seem to seat firmly into the grip and had a little looseness in it. Then when I released the slide, the 1st round would jam. Often all I had to do to clear the jam was to tap the bottom of the magazine firmly. The round would chamber and the slide closed properly. Then the gun would shoot the all the rounds without jamming. Sometimes the 2nd round would have the same problem after I cleared the 1st round by racking the slide. Most of the time, the gun functioned without problems, but these issues were frequent enough to give me some concern.
What do you think? Is this a normal part of the breakin period, or was I doing something incorrectly, or is there a problem I need to have checked? Oh, I was firing the Winchester 230 grain FMJ bullets in the white box. I now have about 90 rounds fired. Couldn't stay at the range any longer because I had to get my wife back to work.
