OK, so on my second trip to the range today the front fiber optic popped out on my new vtac 40. I cant say that I was surprised. It is sad to say that I have been expecting it. Of course I filled out the warranty return form for SW, but I am wondering if anyone has replaced the fiber optic on a vtac themselves. If so, what fiber optic and adhesive did you use? What procedure? How well is it working?

I'd just let S&W replace the sight or even have them replaced with standard night sights. I want to like the VTAC sight but have read way to many threads with people having them fall apart.

I'd like to try the orange w/white outline front sights I've seen on some M&P's. That, with 10-8 rear sights!

The VTAC sights I have on my M&P 9mm look like the fiber optic pipes are sealed into the sights. So if this isnt a new thing, then how are these falling out? |

My front rod blew out on my first trip to the range. This has been an on-going problem since they were first introduced. The sealant doesn't hold. I replaced the tube and superglued it in. It is not as bright as the original was. I really liked the sights, but went back to Ameriglos because of the the tube issue
