Accuracy & Barrel Twist Data - 9mm

With reference to the may posts on barrels/accuracy/etc.....

While I was doing research on a different subject I found three references that indicated the twist for a 9mm barrels shoud be about 1 in 10"!

1) ANSI/SAAMI Z299.3-1993
On PDF page 115 (Document Page 107)
The standard test barrel for pressure testing 9mm cartridges is a 1 in 10 twist.
This is found on the SAAMI.org site (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute)

2) Glock Pistol Spec's for all Glock 9mm pistols is 1 in 250mm (9.84")

3) Wikipedia entry for 9x19 Parabellum indicates the same value as the the Glock spec above.
This is shown in the Cartridge Dimensions area of this post.

Twist rates for 9mm barrels seem to be all over the place from 1:10" to 1:24" with some of the longer twist rates provide good accuracy. This must not be the whole answer, but it is interesting that the 1:10" pops up at least three times and nobody says the 9mm Glocks shoot "Bad" groups because of it!

FWIW

Most sources I have seen quote 1 in 18.75" for the factory barrel.

I understand S&W used the same twist for the 9MM that is used for the 40S&W. What's up with that? It's not like S&W never built a 9MM pistol before.
