Sig sights on M&P

Hey guys, I came across some info a while back (I dont remember where) saying that we could use Sig sights on the M&P, and wanted to verify. without having a Sig in front of me, I cant compare measurements. I know you would lose about a half inch of sight radius doing so, but I want to verify that the option is there. also, are the sight heights the same, allowing you to mix N match, or would a complete set be in order?

Thanks!

I can't answer your question but it raises another question in my mind.

Why would you want to?

as of now, I dont see any 24/7s being made for the M&P, but they are for the Sigs. I like the idea of the Big Dots, but I want the rear to be tritium as well.

Look into TruGlo TFOs.. BIG bright dots, and tritium/fiber mix for 24/7 bright, and they work/look great on the M&P.... AND they're cheap

Edit: Looks like you can get them for the M&P now: http://xssights.com/index.php?nID=si...ts&sID=handgun

I appreciate the link, but I just cant do FO sights. too easy for something to break. I know im probably over thinking it, and Ill admit, ive never owned FO sights, but Im pretty hard on my equipment, and im quite skeptical about the plastic. Ive never broke a set of tritium sights, so I figure Ill stick with that.

As for the 24/7s, they (according to their website) are still only offering them with front tritium only, and just a painted line for the rear. BUT.. they make them with rear tritium for the Sig.. NO FAIR! lol

Have you looked at any two-dot sight sets?

UPDATE: I just spoke to Monte at XS, and was told that they will NOT be offering a a rear tritium sight for the M&P..EVER! so, if youre holding your breath, go ahead and exhale. The reason being, there is not enough steel in the M&P sight to house the tritium. (which, if you look at the low profile design of the sight, it makes sense) I personally think that they could do a horizontal dash, as opposed to vertical, just for a reference point, but.. oh well. its not going to happen. realistically, you dont need the rear to be tritium anyway, I guess I was just hoping for max visibility.

And, now that I put some more brain power behind it, I realize that I must be thinking about the swap out between Sig and XD, as the dovetails are totally different between Sig and smith.

I personally like the AmeriGlo ProGlo front combined with the Warren Tactical one-dot rear.

Below are the available sets that have pictures, AmeriGlo has a few other sets without the bright painted outline around the front sight.

Why I like the Warren rear
  • U-notch (eyes tend focus to the front)
  • Reduced profile on the sides (less obtrusive - I can see a little more)
  • Subdued yellow vial (a green front sight is brighter and will gain focus)
  • No painted outline (a noticeable outline on the front sight like the ProGlo, again focus goes to the front)
