Went with the Burris Fastfire 2 on my Performance Center 9mm

Figuring out which optic to go with for my Performance
Center 9mm has been a real task.

Obvious choices are the Leupold Deltapoint and the Trijicon
RMR, but both are very expensive. I started to look at the
Burris Fastfire sites, but in the end decided to go with the
Deltapoint... or so I thought.

Turns out no one had any in stock and several sites are
showing them as discontinued. I think Leupold is holding
off making any more in preparation for the new "Pro".
The problem with the Pro though, is that it's tall and will
not co-witness with the iron sights. That's why I wanted
the older model, even with it's quirks (battery on the
bottom, no way to tighten the set screws without bending
the wrench or removing the sight).

I did find a great price at Opticsplanet and with the Black
Friday deal they had, I was at $395 shipped. They said they
had an order coming in the next week. Well that was on
December 3rd and they still don't have any and I cancelled
that order because I don't think they'll get any.

So back to the Burris Fastfire sights... I know the III fits
just fine, but it's tall and doesn't co-witness with the iron
sights. Some will say that doesn't matter, but for me, I
wanted that option. So after confirming that the II (2) model
would fit with the mounting plate type 5 with the Doctor
screws, I went with the Fastfire II.

It's lower profile than the 3 and sits much like the older
model Deltapoint does. It's a 4 MOA dot which should be
big enough and comes with a cover that fits snugly over
the optic. I'm not sure why the 3 only comes with a shade
cover.

Yes the battery is on the bottom, but it should last a good
long time and has an easy to reach on/off switch on the
left side. I sighted in with the optic on the gun, then removed
it and tightened the set screws. Zero held fine after remount.

So for those of you looking for a cheaper option, there are
Fastfire 2's out there. I paid $179 at Amazon with free 2 day
shipping. I really like the look of the II and I'm happy with
the purchase. I'll be shooting it tomorrow and will let you know
how it holds up.

Hope this helps some others in the same situation.

Hey Dinosaur,

The Fastfire 2 co-witnesses really well. You can see in one
of the pics I took I had the sites lined up, but the camera
didn't pick up the red dot.

With Christmas and New Years, I still haven't got to the
range to shoot it yet. I'll report back here when I do.
