Also, I presume Leupold enlarged and strengthened the DeltaPoint probably for the reason that so many slide mounted red dots don't last long under the severe stress of cycling with the slide on every shot. I expect the original DeltaPoint didn't hold up well enough. Many of the early Tasco, Doktor, etc. red dots either died a fast death or had to be heavily worked over and "hardened" to have a reasonable life expectency.

Well of course I am going to be shooting it. It's MY gun. I bought it before any of this break in stuff happened. I grew up as a kid with guns, I love shooting, hunting, and support everything pro gun. I'm going to be using it the most. I just want her to be more comfortable shooting it when she does go to the range with me. Which isn't very often, but at least she is trying now.

I am also on day shift now. Which means my wife is no longer alone at night. So chances are if someone were to break in, I'm probably gonna be the one using the gun.

The features that I was looking for in the red dot could be applied to both me and her. for instance, Motion activation saving battery and also eliminating having to turn it on would benefit both me and her.

I guess it makes sense for them to strengthen the newer sight. It's just dissapointing that it won't co-witness. Yes you can get the add-on rear sight that mounts to the DP pro, but how will it align with the guns front sight? That also leaves no option for night sights.

This is an old question which has been brought up again, since this was originally posted a whole lot has changed including a new low profile red dot from Vortex, the Vortex Viper Red Dot that is low profile and will co witness with the open sights. I have a Vortex Venom red dot sight on a S&W Victory 22 and it is outstanding, the Viper is the low profile version.

I can't say enough good things about the Trijicon RM 06.

I have the Vortex Venom @ 6MOA and they have the Viper at 3MOA. I have no issues with the sight mounted on my CZ 75B and intend to mount it on a new CORE later this summer. Vortex has an excellent replacement policy up here if anything goes wrong with the sight. So far no complaints. Holds its zero.

Take Care

I've had problems with my Viper on a .22. Relax and let me explain. The manual does indeed say that it has an automatic light level mode, but it's buried in the manual in a place not expected, and I read manuals. That should give a hint of what's to come.

Mine wouldn't allow me to adjust the brightness of the dot. I went round and round with Vortex, but not in a bad way. They were very helpful. Then I got hold of the person who actually straightened me out. He informed me of the auto brightness function that had been activated. Problem solved. The online manual has the feature documented in a more logical and easier to find place.

My RM06 is on a M&P that I use for competition and I have, quite literally, smashed it repeatedly. It's a very tough sight. I'd have more of them if they weren't so expensive.

I've have the Vortex Viper mounted on a S&W Victory 22, I found the instructions easy to understand and absolutely love this thing, so much better than the Fastfire 3 I currently have on my CORE, in the near future I am going to get the new Vortex that will co witness and mount it on the CORE, the Burris will have to find another pistol for its home.

Just ordered a Viper for mine. Best bang for the buck that's for sure.

Anyone have a Sig Romeo1?
