Difference between these M&P's

The difference is the lighting when the photograph was taken. I have never handled one of these only viewed them in the display case. The guns on display looked more like the brighter picture but if you take one of these guns to dim, flat light it will possibly look more like the darker picture. As an amateur photographer I can tell you that I can change the looks of an item by varying the light.

Lighting is just a little bit different, might be different commercial photographers, or maybe even the same guy on a different day, or a slight difference in lighting balance done in Photoshop later, it could be one of a hundred different things.
