MP40 with Apex trigger vs MP40 pro

Looking to get an MP40. Should I get the standard MP40 and put in an Apex trigger kit or get the MP40 pro with the enhanced factory trigger?

My experience, yours may vary...

I have a full size M&P 40, the trigger was OK, but when I put an Apex sear and ultimate sight block, it made a tremendous difference in how well I could shoot it.

I bought a M&P Pro Series CORE in 9mm, quite frankly the standard trigger it came with was virtually the same as the stock trigger in the 40, so the first thing I did was install the Apex sear and USB, the same thing I did to the standard 40. IMHO the Pro Series CORE trigger was the same as a standard.

For me, the reason to get the CORE was the ability to mount a red dot sight, which I did ASAP due to my aging eyes.

I have a M&P40 Pro. I ended up putting in the Apex Sear & USB. Much better than the stock Pro setup.

Welcome to the Neighborhood!

That's what I would do, especially if you plan on changing the sights. The stock trigger on a Pro Series can smooth out and lighten up with use, but it will never be as good as the Apex FSS Trigger Kit. Hope this helps!

Ok, that's a good heads up. but would you say the apex trigger is better because it was softer and more ergonomic to your finger which i've heard.

Question - I have the M&P CORE 9L with red dot and a FS M&P 9mm. Both feel the same during trigger pull in my opinion.

Should I consider the Apex upgrade route on both and how hard was it to install the necessary hardware?
Thanks - I have a mechanically skill-set and have done some lite gun smith work on other firearms.

Thanks in advance for the guidance.

For me, its hard to quantify, when I got my first M&P I never felt I was shooting anywhere even close to my capability, after installing the Apex fully machined sear and ultimate striker block, I couldn't feel a whole lot of difference, then I went to the range. Whoa! HUGE difference in how well I could shoot it, group sizes shrunk a good 25%, I can't tell you the difference but I can shoot it way better. I wish I could give you a more specific answer, but that's all I have.

Apex makes kits for duty/carry and also target only, personally I would get the kit appropriate for the use I intended for the pistol, springs, sear and striker block, or go with the sets that include a replacement trigger. I installed my own, and anyone with reasonable mechanical skills can do it themselves with the aid of Apex videos. Some people don't have good mechanical skills and for them I'd recommend a pro do it. But if you can assemble a bicycle without difficulty you should be fine. For tools get a set or roll pin punches from Brownells, a good quality set of US made allen wrenches, SAE not metric, no Chinese stuff, an action block isn't a bad idea, although a wood block will work, that's what I used. On the CORE the striker block is under the optic, or under the cover, a little round silver color cap, retained by an allen screw. On the full size the striker block is under the rear sight, the rear sight is locked in place by an allen screw, loosen it then drift the sight out, it will be TIGHT.

I have 3 M&P's, a 9L CORE, a full size 40, and a Shield 9mm, I installed the fully machined sear and ultimate striker block in both the full size pistols, I left the Shield alone to stay with a somewhat heavier trigger.

Depends on price. If the Pro is more than $50 more, I'd just buy the apex kit.

FWIW, my favorite M&P trigger is the pro sear with the apex USB. Not too light, and a crisper break.
