Update On My M&P 9mm M2.0 Holster Question
I recently purchased the new M&P 9mm M2.0 pistol and was wondering if it would fit into the older generation, or non M2.0 holster. Yes it will I just received the IWB Comcealment Express Kydex holster made for the standard M&P 9mm pistol. Even has the locking click, and will not rattle when shaking the holster with pistol. Note; Will not fit with external thumb safety

m2.0 works with the BLACKHAWK! Sepra I just picked up for the range. fits well and the trigger guard clip holds the gun securely.

I carry my M&P40 FS (no external safety) for work (armed guard) in a Safariland 6360 Level III retention holster. I wonder if the M2.0 would function it in with no issues.

I have to say that I found a match made in heaven with my M&P40 m2.0 and the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0. If you add them up, you get a perfect 5 out of 5 stars in my book.
I just received the new Alien Gear holster, and after adjusting it to my taste I took it for a test drive... Literally! From walking, to sitting, to driving, the full size M&P just feels like it isn't even there. The soft neoprene-backed holster is so soft, yet it is reinforced with steel in just the right places to keep its form, and it holds the full-size pistol snug against the body in the 4 o'clock position. It really seems to melt right into my body without any noticeable pressure points.
I can say without hesitation that the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 is far and away a better holster than the DeSantis Intruder holster that it just replaced, even though they look very much alike. Don't get me wrong, the Intruder is an exceptional holster, but the Alien Gear 3.0 is in a league of its own when it comes to comfort.
I've carried full-sized pistols both IWB and OWB for many, many years, and I can tell you with certainty, that this is the most unobtrusive IWB holster that I have ever felt, or not felt.
If you can't tell yet, I am a fan of the Cloak Tuck 3.0, and would say that if you are going to conceal carry a full-size pistol, you really cannot do better than this.

The M2.0 slide dimensions at the forward aspect of the breech are ~0.1" narrower than the M1.0 models. ALS (Automatic Locking System) Safariland internal locking surface engages this area of the breech; with it being narrower, one is able rock the pistol free from its locking retention.
Safariland testing on the 9mm version of the 2.0 indicates that while the new pistol will fit in the holster, and the ALS will lock and unlock as before, the ALS lever has less purchase on the new ejection port.
As a result, the holster won't pass a standard Level I retention test--the gun can be pulled out without releasing the ALS lock first.
Officers who wish to pair the new M&P 2.0 with an older Safariland ALS holster will want to upgrade it with updated ALS parts that are specifically made for the new gun (currently under development), or purchase new holsters designed for the 2.0, to ensure the retention features work properly.
This is the how the ALS - breech interact. One can appreciate how the M2.0 having a narrower profile offers less width for the mechanism to engage.
You are welcome.
