40 to 9mm conversion POA vs POI

This is probably answered in various separate threads below, but I'm lazy and you guys need more topics anyway. What are your experiences with your point of aim when dropping in a 9mm conversion barrel? My FS40 already shot lower than POA for me with both 165gr and with my 357 Sig conversion barrel. I added a shorter Ameriglo front sight to it yesterday to correct this. Just curious as to what others results were with 9mm conversion barrels vs. factory 40. I've got three 9mm's laying around so far from a need, but the M&P with the Apex and the 3lb pull is so nice, I mean, why not. But if there is a discernable difference here, then I'm out. Won't keep a gun that doesn't hit to point of aim.

The POI will probably be significantly different at 25 yards. 147 gr 9mm grouped 2-3" right at 25 yards for me compared to 180 gr .40 in my 40 compact. You may also find that 115, 124, and 147 gr 9mm can vary in POI for 2-3" at 25 yards (this applies to factory 9's as well).

It's no different than rifles where a 5-6 MOA difference in POI between different brands of ammo in the same weight isn't that uncommon and 10+ MOA can be common when you start going to different weights. Ballistic coefficient, barrel harmonics, recoil timing, etc all play a factor.

Personally I drifted my sights to the caliber I plan to shoot most often. If you plan to switch calibers a lot, adjustable sights might be wise.

My 357 sig barrel shot low, but so did the gun with 165gr so I got a shorter front sight to compensate and that brought both into the POA. Just kind of wondered what others results were on average with the 9mm conversion to try and ballpark it from there.

I have the stormlake 40 to 9mm conversion barrel. No noticable shift of POI. It is a lot more accurate than a stock m&p9.

My barrel and mags came in today. I shot about 4 mags through it at steel from about 15yds and it shot very well. I'll rest it and shoot paper tomorrow and see exactly where it hits but its going to be pretty close. No regrets so far, and can't be happier with my FS40/357/9mm.

I had added the shorter front sight to this gun, but 115gr shot about an inch high at 10yds. 147gr shot about 3" high. Consequently 165gr .40 and 125gr .357 were both dead on.

I too saw a difference so I got a dedicated slide for each caliber.

I use the Stormlake 9mm conversion barrel in my M&P 40. It also has the Apex duty/carry kit with the metal glock style trigger. Sights are Wison Combat rear battlesight and feont gold bead. It is the most accurate handgun I have ever fired. POA AND POI seem right on.

With the shorter Ameriglo front sight, .40 cal 165gr and .357 Sig 125 Gr. are both dead on at 10yards rested. 9mm is about an inch high in 115gr and 3" high in 147gr. I can live with that. Just hate a gun that shoots low.
