1.0 grip vs 2.0 grip

Hey guys,

So, today I got to check out the m&p 2.0, dry fire it and all that good stuff. I have read and seen plenty of reviews of the new 2.0 and most people seem to like the new textured grip, the 2.0 comes with, but for some reason I didn't like it as much as I like the original (1.0) m&p grip. The original (1.0) seems to fit like a glove in my hands and extremely comfortable.

This is just my opinion, I was just wondering if anyone feels the same ?

Did you "try" any of the other 3 palm swells for it?
Maybe that the weapon had the largest or smallest installed and youd be happier with one of the others.

Thats the beauty of interchangeable swells.

I purchased a 2.0 full size when I needed to send my M&P 9c back to Smith & Wesson after over 10,000 rounds my trigger bar was wearing a rough spot in itself. I liked the way the full size shot but did not like the texture of the grip while carrying the gun in a IWB.

I got my 9c back and shot it 150 times, then fired the 2.0. Hands down for shooting and trigger the 2.0 is much nicer for me to shoot. Now I wish my 9c had the grip texture and trigger of the 2.0.

In summery after a month and a half I have changed my mind about the 2.0.

I like the grip and texture over my older M&P 9c.

I believe the M2.0 grip size is the same as the M1.0 with the exception of the more aggressive grip texture on the M2.0.

The grip texture on my M2.0 seemed quite sharp when I first got it, but now not so much. I don't know if I've just gotten used to it or if the points on the stippling have dulled a bit with everyday use, but I like it.

IT (2.0) HAS 4 INTERCHANGEABLE SWELLS
TO FIT DIFFERENT SIZE HANDS.

The fourth is a size in between the old medium and large sizes.

Stipple the 9c grip and call it a day.

Plenty of videos if you are a DIY person otherwise pay somebody to do it.

Yes but would pay to have it done right.

I have seen some horrid self stipple jobs.

But I am thinking of waiting till the 2.0 comes out in 9c.

Then I can buy another.

Nice thing about those grip inserts, if you screw up your stipple job, throw it out and buy a new one. See`m on ebay all the time.
You do that to a GLOCK 3rd gen on down, and screw it up, you can`t fix it unless you buy a new pistol.... baaaaaaaaaaa glockism sucks

Same here but in 40. We may be waiting a while.

No sign of any compacts from LGS dealers Ive talked with.

Hope its sooner rather than later.

Holding an M&P v1 and an M&P 2.0 in a store does absolutely nothing to tell you how the grips are in practice.

Having owned several M&P 1st gen guns and a couple of the M&P 2.0 versions, I can tell you fist hand that the new grip is a huge leap forward. I would trade off all of my 1st gen guns for a single M&P 2.0. That sounds like hyperbole, but it is true since I will never ever own a 1st gen again.

I always did my own grip jobs on M&P for myself, friends and family, just to make them stay put in the hand, which is what you get with the slippery soap feel from a 1st gen M&P when your hands get sweaty.

Both the 1st and 2nd gun M&Ps have the same grip angle and ergos, so there should be no difference in how the gun "feels" in the hand with the same backstraps.

gglass is correct. The only difference you`ll feel, is the texture of the new grip on the M2.0 vs 1.0.
Some people will change out their first gen grip inserts for the M2.0 inserts... when they become available... and dont hold your breath waiting to find some.

My wife did not like the grip on the 2.0. She used an emery board on it and now she likes it.

Definitely a love/hate relationship with these new rough textured grips. At first, i hated the texture on my 45 shield, now that i`ve gotten use to it, i dont mind it at all. The hardest part of it is, once you`ve shot the M&P`s with this new texture, its hard going back to the older M&P`s...lol. My wife loved my 45 shield right from the first time she felt it and shot it. Love or hate, some people like`m, some don't...lol. My 9mm PC fullsize guns all have the rough texture grips... i like`m...!
