M&P Bodyguard Trigger Mod

Purchased Galloway Precision's Short Stroke Trigger Kit for my new M&P Bodyguard 380. Watching the videos, swapping out the trigger and hammer spring looked fairly easy and straight forward, but removing the rear sight to access the firing pin springs looked tough...especially since I don't have a rear sight removal tool. Don't want to bang up the rear sight of the slide so opting to take it to a gunsmith. And since it involves the trigger and ability to fire the handgun, maybe not a bad idea to let a pro do it.

Found a gunsmith that has done the trigger mod before and took it to him. He installed the new trigger and test fired the handgun. Picked it up and about a week later decided to clean and do a once over. The slide would not slide off of the frame. Pushed pretty hard and would not budge. I pulled the trigger back slowly and when the hammer started to move back the slide released and slid off. I took the gun back to the gunsmith thinking there was something wrong. I also emailed Galloway Precision. The gunsmith said the problem was that the slide was not pushing down that part of the trigger bar that sits a little above the frame and was hanging up on the rear of the slide. He "polished" the trigger bar a little and now the slide slides off the frame after some effort with my thumb. The next day I received an email from Galloway stating that the new springs put more pressure on the trigger bar and the problem I was having was not unusual. Galloway also stated that pulling the trigger causes the trigger bar to drop down a bit allowing the slide to move forward. After several disassemblies, the slide comes off a lot easier. Whew!!! Trigger is nice. About 35% or so less trigger travel, but still a heavy pull...which is fine considering I carry with a round in the chamber and the safety off.
I also purchased a leather Recluse Two Sided (TS) front pocket holster for my Bodyguard. VERY WELL MADE and really impressed with the workmanship. Still a little stiff and several times a week I unholster/holster the gun several times for a break-in. Highly recommend Recluse holster if someone interested in pocket carry. Even with regular dress slacks, the handgun is not noticeable. They also have a holster that is more 'square' in shape and designed for larger 'cargo' pants pocket or rear pocket carry.

Your trigger modification

I read your experience in changing out the trigger to lighten it up. I just bought the BG 380 and have struggled with it at the range. I think that the hard trigger pull has a lot to do with it. I also own a Ruger SR9C with a single action trigger and shoot fairly well with it.
How well did you shoot with your BG before the trigger modification? Have you seen a noticeable improvement in accuracy since the modification? How much did the kit cost? What did the gunsmith charge? Are you happy with the modification?
Thank you,
