Replacing sear block

Is there any reason to replace a small spring block with the new 1/8" spring block if your pistol is not having sear flutter?

Yes, because eventually you will. I thought my 2008 9L was sear flutter free and was rudely awakened over the weekend. Luckily it wasn't in a match.

I went from having none to having multiple in just 100 rounds fired. My new sear housing block will be here tomorrow

Don't bother trying to get S&W to replace it. I called and was told they never send out sear housing blocks. The guy I was talking to offered to give me the number to Brownells. Gee, thanks.

OK. It's a relatively inexpensive part so might as well replace it while the gun is apart for new trigger bar and slide stop. Does Brownells have the sear spring & plunger too?

Yes, it's cheap insurance. All Apex FSS kits require the larger spring and for good reason. You can send your sear to Speed Shooters Specialties and they will drill it out for you, but the replacement ones are cheap. I had Apex do several of mine over the years when I went to all FSS kits and then they stopped offering the service when the factory sears were easy to get. Midway USA and Brownell's sells them. I've been having better luck with MidwayUSA shipping quick lately. Most of my Brownell's orders are taking 7 days to hit me in Colorado with is unacceptable for me when I'm trying to get a quick turn around on a customers gun and I'd rather not pay to upgrade shipping when Midways shipping is cheaper and faster for the standard.

The sear block comes COMPLETE with sear, spring and plunger, except where noted below. You don't need to order anything else with it.

They are back ordered at both places.
Smith & Wesson Sear Housing Block without Integral Lock Mag Safety S&W

This one from Brownell's has the mag safety.

Speed Shooters has it in stock. They are normally quick with shipping. I don't see the sear in the actual photo, so it may not include the plunger and spring from SSS. I would call and ask. They have all the internal parts as well.
