M&P Long Slide 9mm HELP

Hi yall,

New to the M&P world, picked up a 9mm Long Slide used from someone who started shooting competition with it and wanted to go to open class so put her up for sale. Long story short it was suffering from the trigger not resetting every now and again. His gun smith had dinked around with the trigger springs in it. not knowing what he had done i figured id be safe to toss in an APEX FSS and flat faced trigger in it. The gun also has a Storm Lake barrel, 1/8" spring and plunger, no magazine safety. After i installed the trigger kit it wouldn't reset after loading the first round tried adjusting the transfer bar or candy cane. this was to no avail. Ive had the gun apart a million times and still no where with it. I need some help. I was ready to send it to APEX and have them fix it but they arent accepting any more work at this time.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

On my .40 full size I had to modify the trigger bar loop where it engages the sear. I had to bend it up slightly. I found a tutorial somewhere (don't remember where) that used feeler gauges (to measure adjustment) and very slightly bending the loop upwards until the trigger function went back to normal.

My M&P 9 did the same thing after installing the same parts. I tried adjusting the gap in the trigger bar loop open and closed, to no avail. Finally on close inspection I noticed that in all my bending to open and close the loop I had apparently bent tip of the loop slightly, (maybe 30 thou or so), off to one side, ( in my case toward the sear). Since I straightened the loop, I have fired about 500 rounds and it has not missed a beat. Hope this helps...

Does it have an overtravel adjustment screw behind the trigger? If so that could also be the problem. Screw it back a bit. There must be a bit of overtravel for the trigger to reset.

It does not have an overtravel adjustment screw. I had tried opening the loop. After chatting with the Apex folks again they went over all the parts that were in the gun and came up with A.) trigger loop had been opened too much, makes sense since the guy before me had tinkered with it. and then i opened up more.. B.) the trigger bar is not the updated model. Im going to close it up and shoot it Monday and if it works great, otherwise ill move towards an updated trigger bar.
