Universal Sight Tool for M&P

I have an M&P Pro and M&P Shield. Is there a Universal Sight Tool that will
remove and install sights for these two guns? I'd like one tool for both guns. Thanks.

I believe that the JMT sight pushers can be ordered to fit pretty much anything.

I can use mine on M&P's, 1911's, Glocks, Sigs, amd many more.

Thanks! I remember reading about that in Am' Handgunner but wasn't near a computer at the time. Like so many things, then it was forgotten. Order placed. It needs to be in my range bag.

Rick, is it a good idea to use brass shim stock to prevent marring of the gun where the jig contacts the slide and also for the push screws contacting the sights? Or is it a non-issue?

I put blue "painters" tape on parts that I don't want to mar before starting work.

It's the same thing I'd do when using a punch.

I use one of these:

Sight Pusher - Sight Pusher Sight Pusher

and blue tape as well. Also, I have Delrin blocks.

I have also use punches and hammer and even an end mill to push sights.

Key is to go slow, penetrating oil is your friend, and tape/protect the touch surface, but surfaces nearby as well.

MGW has one; https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/87...tallation-tool

But if I remember, there is also an adapter needed for the Shield to work with it. Hope this helps!

I have the same tool. Have used it on a few different handguns with good success.

I'll be using mine to remove the rear sight on my PC Shield tomorrow PM, as I'm expecting an Apex striker block in todays mail, and I'll be shooting the Shield in IDPA BUG tomorrow AM.

Well, "stuff happened" this PM, so I had the time to install the new striker block in my PC Shield. I'll be able to provide a range report after the IDPA BUG shoot tomorrow.

For those that like to do their own "smiffin';" the Performance Center model's rear sight on my Shield does NOT have the extra wide extensions on the rear site dovetail as shown by some owners of the standard Shields.

Using my JMT sight pusher, I was able to remove and reinstall the rear sight on my PC Shield9 without issue. That said; it was a good bit tighter than the rear sights on any of my other M&P's.
