M&P with Apex CAEK: Dead trigger after about 20k rounds...

Iíve recently had some occasions where the sear is not resetting.

I replaced the sear spring with a stock sear spring and that seemed to fix the problem although it increased my trigger pull weight by about a pound.

I then installed a new Apex competition sear spring and Iíve had about 3 failures to reset in the last 200 rounds.

I was surprised that the new sear spring didnít fix things.

Two of the failures were during a match so it is possible that I short stroked the trigger but I typically donít do that. One was during slow fire practice and it was definitely not reset until I cycled the slide.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Don.

I had the same issue after about a year (don't know the round count but no where near yours!!!).

I compared the APEX sear to the factory sear in my other M&P and saw that the rear top corner that engages the striker was rounded off (could have been that way when new, but replacing the sear spring didn't fix mine so I had to do something else.)

I removed the sear and slowly stoned that rear corner back to a nice sharp corner and went from 3 FTFIRE almost every magazine to (at last count) over 400 rounds without a single FTFire.

Take a look at the sear. Oh, I stoned the top of the sear since it's the rear of the sear that catches the striker when the slide moves forward.

Good luck with it.

20K rounds, thats ALOT of shootin...!!!! And i`m sure a bunch of dry-fire`s wern`t counted.
Sounds like the sear AND the striker needs replacing. Wouldn`t hurt to replace the trigger bar too.

Do you pull the striker out and clean the striker and the bore...???
Sleeve might be worn as well.
