Night sight pictures

Regardless of which weapon I buy, (compact or shield) , I want to install night sights on it. I'm leaning toward red-front, green rear and was wondering what your night sights look like during the day and the night. How about posting day and night shots of your sight picture along with what brand and color combination?

Wow, 65 views and counting! Huh! I guess nobody has night sights on their weapons. I thought this thread might have got some posts, but I guess not! Guess I'm shooting from the hip about my choice of night sights (pun intended) especially if I hip shoot at night!!!!!

65 views does not equal 65 opportunities to take and post day and night photos of your sights, lol. Besides, when starting a thread asking for pictures it's common courtesy to get the ball rolling with pics yourself, just sayin'.

My green/green Truglo TFO's are pretty awesome day or night on my 9c. I'll post some pics when I get back from the range later today.

Well unless you get sights with outlines around the insert there really isn't much to see during the day. Looks a lot like a blade sight. Unless they are pretty new, even at night there isn't much that transfers photographically really. I run stock night sights on my Pro, and hate them honestly. It's just nothing to brag about. My 92's sights are so old you can barely see the glow. I really prefer FO and blacked out rear. Your night sights are gonna get washed out when you use white light to ID your target anyhow.

I know that these kind of threads usually start with the op 's pics first, but that isn't the case here. I don't have any sights yet, let alone a weapon, hence the reason for this thread. So I could see various examples and choose from them. We have Dawson, tru-glo, ameriglo, hi-viz, tritium filled, fo. I was just wanting to see night sight pictures and hopefully see a red front-green rear especially.

I went with XS Sights Big Dot on mine. The tritium is very, very bright on these but it doesn't matter to me since I'm not going to shoot at something I can't see. I've been in bifocals for a long time and these sights make it a lot easier for me to get on target.

My 2 cents. Going with multiple colors confuses the eye in my experience. Makes acquiring your sights slower. A stand out, meaning large or bright, front sight like the XS is great paired with a muted rear. It's the same principle as my fiber optic set up that's just personal preference based on my personal experience over the years. Some of the sights on the market look killer but are hard to use until you learn them so to speak. There's a reason for there being a Front Sight Academy and not a 3 dot school of shooting.

There are several threads with photos of night sights, but you might have to put forth some effort to find them. One of the most popular daylight/dusk/night options are Tru Glo TFO sights in either green/green (model TG-131MPT), or green/yellow (TG-131MPTY. Thats green in front with substantially dimmer yellows in back). Sorry, no red.

TRU-GLO TFO sights are available at Bud's for $75.

Sorry, my bad.

Here are my TruGlo TFO's in full daylight, low light indoors, and in total darkness. The fiber optic tubes really make them stand out in daylight.

I installed a set of XS big dots on my Glock 19. I like them so much, I installed them on my M&P's( Shield 9, Compact 9c).

So I guess red is not a good color to use? Why do they have that color combination then? (Not being a smartalic)

Not sure how you got that from my post, but the only "red" tritium sights I've seen tended to be rather dim.

I've just installed Trijicon HD night sights on my new M&P40. It has an orange-red dot on the front post and all 3 tritium vials (front & rear) are green. However, as you can see from the back notch it tends to shoot a little high for my liking.
