Haven't sex the one that you mentioned. I use a Comptac Ctac and am quite happy with it.

I took it to mean he hasn't fondled one yet . I was looking at that holster before I ordered the Kydex one I have now. It looks like it sits a bit too low for my liking which is why I didn't order one. I was also looking at a High Noon MrSofty or Spit Decision holster. Still trying to decide between the 2. As far as the Kusiak holster, I've read that people with them like them and it looks to be a good quality holster.

I've had the canted Kusiak holster for my Shield 9 for about two weeks now. I cannot carry my gun in the holster. Reason: the holster is so tight that when I draw the gun, the holster comes with it so I end up standing there with a gun in my hand and the gun still in the holster!

When I received the holster I couldn't push the gun all the way in. I emailed Kusiak about the problem and I was told to push it all the way in and then wear the holster for a couple of hours and that it will break in soon after that.

Well, I carried the holster (and gun) for several hours and then stored the gun in the holster for several days.

I am able to push the gun down all the way into the holster but I cannot draw it when the holster is clipped to my belt (IWB style) - everything comes out. In order to take the gun out of the holster, I have to hold the holster with one hand and then pull the gun out. That, is not practical or safe for a carry holster.

I found that a IWB holster (ActivePro) that I have for my Ruger SR9c will somewhat work for the Shield. And I plan to use the canted Kusiak for my Kahr K9 gun.

So no, I do not recommend the Kusiak for the Shield.

Welcome to the forum teemon! Try putting your Shield in a plastic bag. Just a regular one like you might get at WalMart. Then put your gun in the holster, plastic bag and all, and leave it overnight, or for a whole day. Then, take the gun out of the plastic bag and try it in the holster. Sometimes leather holsters just need to be stretched a bit. Hope this helps!

Bill, thanks for the welcome. I'm reluctant to try what you suggested because a couple of my fellow officers placed handguns into plastic bags (guns were bloody though). Later, you would not believe the amount of rust that developed.

But my Shield has no blood on and the plastic shopping bag won't be sealed, so I'll give it a try.

I have to say, I've been carrying handguns since 1965, and I've had some stubborn and defective holsters, but none has been this tight. That's too bad b/c I do like it and that's why I plan to use it for my K9. But if your idea works, then I can also carry my Sheild in it too.

I will let you know if it works. Thanks again Bill!

Bill, unfortunately the plastic bag idea did not work for me. I was hoping that it would and I am disappointed that it didn't work.

I put my Shield 9 into the bag last night at about 9pm or so and I took it out a few minutes ago - 6:15pm on 9/5/14, to try out.

The Kusiak holster is simply too tight and when I have the gun fully inserted into the holster and I attempt to draw the gun, both the gun and holster pull out together!

I did find that if I do not insert the gun fully into the holster, I can now draw it and the holster remains. But that's not the way it's supposed to work.

It's too bad that it is not working because I do like the canted style of this holster. But it's not a total waste because I can carry my Kahr K9 in the holster and I do like to carry that gun.

As I said previously, I have another holster that will work for IWB purposes but it is not a canted style.

Teemon, I would contact Kusiak holsters and let them know of the problem. I'm sorry the plastic bag didn't work. Maybe the holster is a little under sized.

Bill, I think you're right about the holster being slightlyy undersized causing the extreme tightness.

I will email Kusiak again tomorrow to let them know. Have to admit that I was not impressed with their customer service when I first contacted them about the problem.

The holster will work for my Kahr K9 so I'll keep it for that gun. But I do not plan on buying another holster from them. I'd be concerned that the holster would be too tight for whatever gun I would buy it for.

My Shield fits in a holster that I bought from Active Pro holster company so I'll use that one..

I've read on other forums that wax paper might work. If you try it please let me know as I have a new Tagua IWP for my Shield on the way.

While I have not ordered anything from Kusiak, I have the OWB Predator. for my Shield, from Wright Leather Works and their workmanship is over the top. Perfect fit, good retention, etc. They also make IWB in leather, so you might want to take a look at the Cruiser. I ordered my second Predator for my 640-1 J Frame yesterday.
