I need a holster.

Hello my name is Ted. And have just signed onto this forum site. I purchased my first handgun yesterday. It is a S/W M&P 38 bodyguard revolver. ..not a semi auto. I am having trouble finding online or at a few stores a outside the pants holster. Any suggestions or manufacturer names I can go to? Thank you for your help.

Congrats on the purchase! Welcome to the forum from Maine!

Did you google it? I just did a yahoo search and got all sorts of hits. I didn't look through the hits for what you specifically wanted though.

You want an OWB holster. (outside the waistband)

I revised my search: https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?...&hsimp=yhs-001

Alien gear holsters are very reasonably priced and comfortable. I own a iwb 3.0 for my Xds and I love it and only cost 43 bucks.

I also read really great things about the stealthgearusa.com holsters and just ordered one yesterday for my PC Shield 9mm w/ green crimson trace laser. Stealth gear holsters are on the expensive side but it is the only holster I can find that is specially made for shield w/green crimson laser. The one thing that stinks is they take 45 days to get the holster to you.

Well I hope you find what you are looking for.

Hi Ted!

Holsters are very personal and something that works for someone else just might not work for you. They come in a mind-boggling array of configurations, IWB, OWB, retention options, fully covered barrel, open or closed bottom etc are all something only you can decide upon.

I'm partial to leather with top snap retention and an open bottom for the muzzle, but there are advantages and disadvantages to everything. In terms of quality but mass produced leather holsters you can't go wrong with a well-known brand like Galco, Don Hume, Bianchi... etc. If they don't work at least you won't have spent much money.

If you want top quality, price isn't important, and you're willing to wait, I highly recommend High Noon Holsters. They will pretty much make anything and in any material or color you want. If the prices scare you away wait a few weeks because they run sales every so often.

I think a lot of gun owners eventually wind up with a bunch of holsters in a drawer that they will never use because they just don't work for one reason or another. I don't know any way to avoid that fate

Are you looking for Leather or Kydex holsters?

S&W has some leather holsters on their website. You might also plug your pistol's info into Safariland's holster finder and see if they have what you're looking for.

I wrote to you in the newcomer section. You have a j frame revolver. Check out these guys; Simply Rugged Holsters - Leather Holsters, Leather Gun Belts, Leather Ammo Pouches and Leather Accessories

Also Galco, De Santis, and Fobus all make holsters for j frames. Probably any open ended holster for a j frame will fit. Check out Midway too. Hope this helps!
