Mag Well

I'm just wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this mag well. I'm not sure I want a mag well but it's an interesting idea. It looks like the well is screwed down onto a replacement for the frame tool.

Did you forget to post a link sholling? IIRC, I think there is one available for the M&P and I think someone even posted a pic on this forum and did a review on it but I could be wrong.

Magwell's give you a larger opening and tapered (slanted) opening.

When you are in a hurry and drop your empty mag, that's when an altered magwell

comes into play.

I've seen this around and for me it just doesn't seem worth it.

plus you loose your backstrap tool.

Then again i don't speed competition shoot.

I left off the link on purpose. I didn't wanna start an eBay bidding war among our members. This guy has sold several in 9/40 over the past several weeks, and this is the second that he's posted for the 45. They go for $19-25, unless our friends get into a bidding war.

I think that the one that you remember was a very rough homemade mag well.

Jeff 9mm M&P & PaiMei,

What a mag well extension does is act as a funnel to speed up reloads during competitions. They've been used on competition 1911s for years. Done well they are useful. Done poorly they are a waste of time.

Here's the ad copy:

I'm home now and can see your pic. I was previously on a network that apparently blocked the image. I initially didn't see a link or a pic so I didn't know what you were referring to.

Yeah that is not what I saw earlier. That's sure not much of a magwell.

To be honest, this is the first time I have heard of someone producing a magwell for the M&P, does anyone else offer different makes?

Looks more like a "trim ring" than a mag well

I don't see an advantage to this on the M&P. I've seen beveled mag wells on other guns (1911) where it would improve the insertion process. The tops of the M&P magazines are tapered enough that the beveled well is not needed. A blind man could insert the magazine with his cane!
