Had same light strike problem went to Federal primers solved most of it
It's hard to remove. I used a 5/16" x 4" carriage bolt, smoothed the end of it, and carefully threaded it into the liner and pulled the old one out. I bought a Glock tool (I know) that is designed to install their plastic liner. Be careful hammering it in not to hit too hard. You can get liners from speedshooterspecialties.com. Not sure why S&W doesn't have a tool for this, they want gunsmiths do do this job.

light strike

My 4.25 9mm M&P developed intermittent fail to fire. I got a new fp assy from S&W and the problem no longer exists. I was and still am using CCI primers.

YMMV
