22M&P manual/ambi safety removal?

I'd like to remove the ambi safety from my 22M&P...the pistol doesn't fit in my duty holster without significant force, and is really tough to draw.

Can this be done? If so, how?

Thanks in advance...

First; make sure it's legal to remove in your jurisdiction.

Then look here: M&P22 Safety Plug v2 - kits for sale!

Duh....found this right away. M&P22 Thumb Safety Removal - YouTube

Comments or concerns?

Youtube is easier to search for 'M&P22' than this place...

Hey, thanks for the tip...these are going out of production, but I'll definitely try to grab some.

Legality isn't an issue where I live....

Here is what I did:

Empty gun, remove slide, remove the rollpin behind safety levers, pry up on assembly just enough to get the safety levers to clear frame and pull levers off. Make sure safety is in the off position, optionally paint with flat black, push assembly back into frame, install rollpin, install slide, done.

I should add that getting the rollpin back into position is a bit tricky, the assembly is under spring pressure, making maintaining hole alignment difficult. It's not bad, just know going in so there is no surprise.

Right....that's the same procedure as in the video. Good to know others have done it however.

The cover plugs recommended by agksimon apparently can't be shipped to Canada for legal reasons... Doubtless they would be invaluable to Enemies Of The State...

Did you contact him to see if he will ship these to Canada or are you just assuming that he won't ship them here?

I'm actually not shipping outside the US right now. It'd be illegal for me to do so since the parts are licensed and patented. Bummer right?

If you were to ask me, I'd say you're lucky. Why? The kit requires you to take the gun too far apart and mess with parts that should not be messed with, just for looks. That is just my opinion of course.
