M&P 40 with magazine safety..

I have watched a bunch of yt videos, I can't seem to get the pistol slide off by the "quick" method ie..without disengaging the sear lever....is it because of the magazine safety? This is new to me but manufactured in 2006. I bought it from a reputable shop, it was a police trade-in.

I have trouble understanding why people want to evade this important safety feature, it only takes a couple of seconds to do it the right way, and it eliminates the dangers inherent in pulling the trigger, which has resulted in injuries and even death in the hands of forgetful or careless users of that other brand.

it's not that I want to evade the safety in the right way of disassembly. I'm just trying to figure out which gun i have an all the inherent ins and outs of this new purchase that i intend to carry in the woods for bear and gator and such.

Yep, put a mag in it and try the 'quick' method.

With my 40c it only works with the mag removed, but mine is new so that may be a difference. I usually don't use that method because it really doesn't save much time and I'd prefer to not pull the trigger.

well it doesnt work with the mag in..and i also dont see the "capable of fire without mag" disclaimer on side of pistol, so I must have the internal mag safety! Am i assuming correctly?

Look at your sear block after you field strip the gun. If there are two small levers in the front of the block, one is the sear disconnect and the other is the mag safety. If there is only one lever, it's the sear disconnect and the gun has no mag safety.

I am sorry I should have been complete with the instructions. Put the mag in to pull trigger, take mag out and then remove slide. I think.

Nah, still nothing, but that's OK! I like the mag disconnect!
