Is this normal barrel hood wear?

Was cleaning my M&P Pro 9 today and noticed some ugly looking wear on the front edge of the barrel hood and where it interfaces on the slide. Had the gun for about a year, it currently has 1857 rounds through it. I have been using brian enos slide glide regular and heavy as my lube. I have been using the factory recoil spring and guide rod. Only modification is the apex competition action enhancement kit. Anyone else experience similar wear?

It looks like they missed the front edge/locking lug on the slide.

I'd call S&W, as all four of mine are smooth as a baby's butt there.

I use the same grease and after 20K rounds my hood looks the same. If you want, put a little grease on the hood.
BTW; I have always slobbered on the the grease onto the barrel itself.

Normal with being shot.. Purely cosmetic. I saw a video of an M&P on YouTube, I think it was the RangeTime guys.. He held his M&P up and even the outside of the slide had a LOT of finish wear, but the weapon was still tight and ran smooth...

I dont think anyone has come up with an indestructible finish yet... No worries, keep shooting. Think of them as "badges of honor", its a reflection you shoot a fair amount, which is a good thing!
