APEX Comp Spring kit issue

I bought the APEX competition spring kit from Midway and installed as per the instructions in the APEX videos. I'm having issues with my trigger staying rearward.

I went to test/dryfire the gun and I pull the trigger to the rear and rack the slide to see the reset, and the trigger remains locked in the rear position. I had to flick the trigger forward to get it back to normal.

I did a combination of springs and found the trigger return spring wasn't strong enough to pull the trigger bar past the striker block.

I'm afraid to use the competition trigger return spring in a USPSA/IDPA match due to the lock back issue.

I'm not sure what to do and maybe you can help. Is there a trick I'm missing? The gun is clean, if that takes away one factor.

My competition kit trigger return spring has no trouble returning the trigger to it's forward position.

I'm wondering if something is binding somewhere?

I installed a CAEK in one of my M&P9's a good 10 months ago, and have had zero malfunctions of any sort.

It's def a unique issue. I'm not sure what it could be from. I'm thinking I got a bad spring?

Could be, but I wonder if you've installed the TR spring correctly?

I only mention that because it seems like I remember the instructions noting the proper orientation of the "hooks" on the ends of the spring during assembly.

I suggest you give the Apex folks a call. I understand that they're quite helpful.

I did. and I double checked the direction of the hook.

I had to send pics to APEX so hopefully they can come up with a situation.

Might I suggest you put a dab of white grease on the slide, along where the striker block cam runs, just to confirm the trigger bar is not pushing up too far. The top of that camming surface shouldn't scrape the botton of that little gully.

Figure I'd update this. Turns out it was an issue with the gun and not the kit. Turns out the ejector and trigger bar were rubbing against the slide. It's due to the sear housing block on the core? Well apex walked me through it and it was recommended to take .005 off the top of the trigger bar and polish it. I polished the ram too and it worked out. Light and smooth.
