Just adding my woes to the list. The M&P40c I purchased was made in jan 2007. I bought it in NIB condition as someone bought it and they never really used it. Anyhow I finally got to shoot it the other day and immediately had the mag drop issues. It only happens when it is being fired and there is no order to when the mag drops. I got through a full 10 round magazine a couple times and did not have an issue. In all the mag dropped on me a half dozen times over 50 rnds of plinking ammo.
Also from what I can tell the mag catch is the original one and it does not take much force at all to release the mag.
My M&P40 Full Size has a 1000+ rounds through it and has no issues.

Contact Smith. I did and they sent me out the mag release for free. It's easy to change and fixes the problem once and for all. (did on mine anyway).

Good morning guys, i've been lurking around before my first post just reading some of the great ideas on the board.
I have a little issue: i just got the Flat Dark Earth Range kit in 9mm (150986). right off the bat i noticed that the magazines stick on release instead of dropping right out of there like on my many other m&P's
The button releases properly but it seems like the dark earth polymer frames are a little tight?
anybody face the same issue? any recommendations on how to improve this?

An FDE frame shouldn't have different dimensions from the black frames, is it possible the grip was warped or twisted somehow? As always, when you have a problem with the way your S&W product functions you should call S&W at 1-800-331-0852 and tell them about it.

I just got a M&P 9 full size. with about 50-60 rounds through her. I am experiencing a problem with loading magazines. The pistol drops the magazines just fine. THe problem is when I go to load the mag in the frame it is sticky and I really have to shove it in hard. I have a M&P 40 and it is nothing like this ... One magazine is better than the other but both are still bad. It feels like the metal on the magazine release is forcing too hard on the magazines.. I bought the gun with a stipple job already. I hope the stipple job didn't change the tolerences on the polymer or something like that.. I just got this gun. I dnt know what to do.. Can anyone help?
