first trip to range with m&p9

No it didn't shoot low left for what its worth. I went with a friend who has an m&p9 compact. I must say I am not regretting the full size purchase after really getting some trigger time on both.

I ran 100 rounds of 115grain reloads with no issues whatsoever. I started at 5yds slow fire and was using the dot torture target courtesy of pistol-training .com. My buddy would call out a number and I would have to put two rounds on target. We went back and forth on this for 50 rounds then we did the 3-two-1 drill back and forth for the last 50 rounds. I decided I wanted to run a box of hornady critical defense 115grain ftx through my m&p. I went back to the dot torture test at 5 yards and put two rounds on each number. The last 5 I just went as quickly and accurately as I could on one of the numbers and I hit it 4 out of 5 rounds.

I haven't started using this as my edc yet as I want more time on it before I am comfortable carrying it. I have hornady 135 critical duty that I have not tried and I have used the 115 critical defense which I liked. Does anyone have any thoughts between the 2? Or is it more personal preference in terms of handling and such?

I use 165 grain critical defense in both my 40's. I'll assume the difference in grains is caliber size.

I use Winchester JHP 165's in my back up mags

Trust them both with my life!

UPDATE: 2nd range trip

Went to the range today, ran 225 rounds through the gun with no hiccups or failures. I have 350 rounds through the gun with no issues including 50 rounds of hornady critical duty 135gr.

Accuracy is getting better for me and I think my trigger is starting to break a little more cleanly with use. I've also been running snap caps and doing dry fire practice to help that as well as trigger control.

Thank you I appreciate that. My goal is to get to the range at least every other week.

Pics as promised, first one is from yesterday I have a crappy phone so don't mind the blurriness. I shot everything except one box of critical duty:

Great pics!!!! I have the blurry issue sometimes too. I try to get to the range every 6-8 weeks. Wish it could be more often. I do a ton of drill/trigger control at home.

Here is a quick video of results. I cant remember if this is my FS or compact, same results.

Nice video clip ginzo, I guess I'll have to get a .22 so I can have spent casings to practice with my dry fire.

Are those 10rd mags?? You're getting lots of Reloading practice .... Also, I have 8-10k+ through my M&P and have Never had a failure ( Other than 2-3 bad primers) but the gun has never had a hiccup of any kind, I trust my life to it NO PROBLEM.. Kind of like a Best Friend....

Yes I live in the great communist unfriendly gun state of Massachusetts. I should feel privellaged to be allowed ten rounders. I have 6 mags I use a speedloader at the range to move the process along. I do a field strip and clean after each range trip I know some people are against that(think its overkill) but where this is for edc I think its preferable for me.

Im impressed with the performance of it thus far, granted I'm not the most experienced shooter however 350 rounds, 3 different types of ammo and not a hitch. I set up a spreadsheet to calculate my rounds through the gun but it is also keeping track of what type & weight as well as any malfunctions I experience and how many with each ammo type.

First time I've heard of the dot torture drill or seen that target. I'm going to have to try that. Thanks for sharing!
