Rented a Glock 17 to compare with my MP 9 at local range. Sure appreciate my stock MP now! Both shot accurately but the Glock had serious trigger pull. Thought my MP trigger was stiff but the Glock was very heavy in comparison. Fired 100 rounds in both alternating each mag with range reloads, my reloads & factory fresh ammo. Glock jammed on last round; MP shot everything clean. I realize my 3 year relationship with my MP 9 compared with a one-time range rental may not be a true comparison but certainly pared down my "Glock Rules" perception.
Otherwise.. Ive found Glock and M&P be on equal plane in accuracy and reliability. When it comes down to brass tacks, its personal preference. Mine is either, and mostly nothing else.
My old agency issued the G17 and I always thought it was too big for my hands. My friend has a 40 full size and I love it compared to my M&P 9c that I use with a 17 round x-grip. I am pretty fond the of the gen 4 though
I got my G17 G4 yesterday, you should *seriously* check out a Gen 4! Even though the difference may be small, the grip on a 4 feels a million times better!! Im so glad I waited for a 4, a 17 in 4 is pretty hard to find around here... Im super impressed with everything about the 4 too, look forward to shooting it in matches.
I have see sawed back and forth between the S&W M&P full size and compact 9 and the Glock 17 and Glock 19, as I near retirement I realize the ergonomics for the S&W M&P and the availability of parts to upgrade the trigger may be in my best interests. Though it is getting harder to find M&P's without the thumb safety cuts in the frame on the newer versions. I did find both and I am contemplating purchasing both.
I have a full-size M&P 45 and a Glock 21 SF. Both are stock with the exception of Ameri-Glo sights installed on the Glock. As far as stock triggers are concerned, the trigger pull on the Glock is better. As far as ergonomics go, the M&P wins hands down!
